Israel’s middle class in mass protest

An uprising of the Middle Class – that is how demonstrations of up to 120,000 people across Israel are being dubbed.

An estimated 50,000 gathered in Tel Aviv alone, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s housing reform last Tuesday.

His approval rating has dropped to 32 per cent as the price of basic goods and housing rises.

“People who contribute to the state, go into the army, fight and pay ridiculously high taxes can’t make ends meet. They can’t afford a standard, one-bedroom apartment,” said one protestor.

The current situation in Israel reminds me of the first half of the Bush administration. The economy is growing, but so is poverty. I just hope the Israeli government does not repeat Bush's mistakes, or they will suffer the same economic collapse we had.

@snakeies66 Not exactly. You see, wanting the price of housing and food to diminish is just the excuse: Its summer. Its camping time, with a guitar, a six pack and a girl (or a couple of them) at your lap. Can't blame them.. I'd be right there with them, if I didn't have a thesis to complete.. darn.

This protest isn't about overthrowing the Government but simply the cost of living being too high for the middle class people who want the pricing of housing and food to diminish.

Woe unto the government of Israel for dividing Jerusalem. The Lord God has commanded that the land in Israel is not ever to be given away. Giving land in Jerusalem (Sergei's Courtyard) to the Russians is an act of rebellion towards the Lord our God.
Has the leadership in Israel lost their fear of the LORD?

A man and a transgender woman have married in what’s been seen as Cuba’s first gay wedding.

Same-sex marriages are illegal in the country, but the ceremony went ahead as planned because the bride is legally a woman after undergoing Cuba’s first state-sanctioned sex change operation in 2007.

“I think the Cuban government has really politicised this. I haven’t wanted to turn this into a circus, much less something political,” said bride Wendy Iriepa.
