Cambodia gets tough on commercial surrogacy

Cambodia has sent out a strong message about commercial surrogacy.

A court in Phnom Penh has jailed an Australian nurse and two local assistants on charges of running an illegal surrogacy clinic.

Tammy Davis-Charles has been given a sentence of one and a half years for breaching a 2016 ban on commercial clinics in the country.

Southeast Asia had been a popular destination for infertile couples but Cambodia followed the lead of Thailand in outlawing the practice.

Anders Breivik: Norway mass killer poor candidate for prison release, prosecutor says

A psychiatrist who has observed him since 2012 testified Wednesday that Breivik can’t be trusted and a prison official told the judges hearing the parole request “there is an imminent danger” that, if released, Breivik would again commit serious crimes.

German watchdog tells parents to destroy ‘My Friend Cayla’ doll over hacking fears

Parents in Germany have been told to destroy the talking toy called ‘My Friend Cayla’ after it was revealed it can be hacked.

The doll uses the internet to respond to a child’s questions. But an official German watchdog says its smart technology can reveal personal data.

Researchers say hackers can gain entry enabling them to listen and even talk to the child.
