😲 1.9 billion euros in debt? HOW COULD ANY LENDERS, DEBTERS OR INVESTORS EVEN ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO GO ON THIS LONG!

  25. @noor20202020

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

Brexit party fault, this party should be taken to the court and make them pay for all lies and dishonesty that led this nice country to hell

  26. @saiblair8590

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

Why is this Government trying to interfere with the market? This is very communistic action. A person purchased a ticket from a private company. Then that company went bankrupt. So the deal was between a buyer and seller. Why 99% of UK taxpayers are liable for an unfortunate event occurred on less than 1% of the population? This doesn't make sense at all.

  27. @public.public

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

brexit currently crashing the pound and threatening a further slides down in value wont have boosted shareholder confidence in the company since a weaker pound means less people able to afford international vacations around the world… and it is supremely ironic that it is EU legislation agreed by member states of the EU that will ensure these brexit pound crash refugees can return home.

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

yes the greedy management will walk away with their pockets well lined and the hard working staff will be lucky to get paid, and next will be the pensions blow, the CEO should cough up some of his millions he is leaving with.

  31. @regmccormack3157

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

People in this comments section have absolutely no idea, they claim its Brexit related, it is not. It is basically an overburdened management wise, outdated business that was worth appr 100m and borrowed nearly a billion seems like simple arithmetic to me, unsustainable.

  32. @3204clivesinclair

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

FAKE TITLE. No one is stranded (let alone 600,000). Look at the definition of stranded you numbnuts!

  33. @robnaples6313

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

If the Company has been in trouble for a while, why the CEO earned over £8 Millions over 4 years, and also a bonus of over £2 Millions?Another private Company scum without social awareness and ethics.

I flew with Thomas Cook in the summer. It was a horrible experience. The company deserved to not exist anymore.

  35. @Pathofplenty

So many jobs lost! So many families now without an earning member, where will all these employees look for work now given the bad shape of the economy? I hope these former employees find new jobs elsewhere very soon! Travel is a luxury, survival is not!

  38. @IvanovichIvanov

    April 19, 2024 at 12:53 am

this is how everything ends up when financuially acting in the way similar to national pension scheme where further generations (turists in this case) pay the bills of those who are currently retired (being on holiday in this case). as soon as futher generations start shrinking the disaster is inevitable.

Don’t trust tour operators to pay for your holiday. Buy air tickets from an established airline, especially British Airways. Book the hotel direct through the official hotel website and not through a third party. Keep all online receipts and copies of your credit or debit card statements showing the airline ticket and hotel charges.

i suspect its stock exchange activity more than its basic travel operation was responsible, they were not the M & S of the travel industry.
