Dolce and Gabbana are arguably the most powerful and influential designers of our time. Their clients include some of the best dressed people in the world, such as the Beckhams, Madonna and Sophia Loren.

Stefano Gabbana was born on 14 November 1962, in Venice, Italy. Domencio Dolce was born on 13 September 1958, in a small village in Sicily. Dolce studied fashion design in Sicily and gained experience in his parents businesses. Gabbana, however, studied graphic design and gained some work experience in fashion, as an assistant in an atelier in Milan, where the pair first met in 1980.

By 1982, they had started their first fashion consulting studio and, in 1985, they showed their first women’s collection in Milan, winning national acclaim.

The collection was mainly homemade, and consisted of instructed designs and complicated systems of fastenings. Inspirational figures for the collection included Italian actresses Sophia Loren and Anna Magnani.

Later signature designs would include corset dresses, gangster pinstripes and sexy black suits. However, it was a visit to Sicily at the end of the 1980s which was instrumental in emphasising their celebration of the curvaceous female form.

The designing duo next tried their luck in Japan and signed an agreement with the Kashiyama group. In 1989 they opened their first boutique in Japan and two years later they were presenting their first men’s collection.

Dolce and Gabbana are now fundamentally known for wanting to make women look “fantastically sexy”. Many of their designs are adapted from the feminist-era, before being glamorised and modernised.

They describe their style as “sweet and sharp” and “New Millennium cool”. They were once quoted as saying they are mostly concerned with creating the best, most flattering clothes and sparkling trends.

D&G began achieving long awaited awards in the 1990s and, in 1991, they were awarded the ‘Wollmark Award’ and ‘Best Fragrance of the Year’ in 1993. By the end of the 1990s it was reported that their sales were around $500 million per year. They have now become one of the world’s most successful ready-to-wear companies and are considered Hollywood’s number one choice of designer.

The couple currently reside in a 19th Century mini-villa in Milan, with an apartment next door. They have also recently renovated one of their properties on the French Riviera.

Go backstage with Irina Shayk and experience David Koma’s creative vision, now exclusively on FashionTV!

For spring/summer 2027 at Milan Fashion Week, Creative Director David Koma presents a sun-drenched, sensual vision for Blumarine, blending high-voltage beach glamour with effortless California ingenuine ease.

Grounded in a palette of sun-faded dusty pinks, lavenders, and aquatic shimmer, the collection merges delicate boudoir lingerie details, sheer tulle, and floral PVC with relaxed denim and surf-inspired codes.

Behind the scenes, the energy was electric as supermodel Irina Shayk commanded the runway in hyper-feminine, bedazzled silhouettes, alongside model Olandria, who brought a striking presence to Koma’s modern exploration of Italian romance.

From crystal butterfly heels to an exclusive runway collaboration featuring feather-tufted UGG clogs, the show captured a captivating dialogue between raw, contemporary youth culture and unapologetic glamour.

ACT N°1: Deconstructed Harmony for S/S 27 | Milan Fashion Week

Discover the fluid artistry, upcycled craftsmanship, and reinterpreted heritage of Luca Lin’s vision – watch the Act N°1 spring/summer 2027 show on FashionTV!

For S/S 2027 in Milan, designer Luca Lin takes apart the established codes of the daily wardrobe, reassembling them with a refreshed sense of proportion, fluid construction, and organic movement.

Set in an open outdoor space where garments engage in direct dialogue with nature, the Act N°1 collection explores the harmony between structure and lightness.

Classic tailoring, shirts, and dresses are deconstructed and reshaped around the body, while an intuitive, layered color palette emerges naturally through movements and openings.

Rooted in mindful craftsmanship, roughly 80% of the collection utilizes deadstock fabrics and salvaged mother-of-pearl buttons, giving discarded materials unique, individual character.

Eastern heritage meets modern luxury through abstract reimaginings of the traditional Chinese qipao enriched with lightweight bamboo hand-embroidery.

The collection’s fluid silhouettes were seamlessly anchored on the runway through dynamic collaborations with Saucony, Scarosso footwear, and Akoni eyewear.

http://www.FTV.com/videos MILAN – FashionTV has the exclusive backstage at the Blue Fashion Beachwear show during Milan Fashion Week where various lines are being showcased that day including Agogoa, Raffaella D’Angelo, Parah Online, and Emamo. Fashion designer Jerry Tommolini says, “This is the debut of Agogoa at the Milan Fashion Shows. Today we’re presenting what I would define as ‘third generation costumes,’ in which costumes that have been used in the past have been cancelled,” says designer Tommolini. “It’s a completely new age that focuses on new fabrics, new types of treatments, new effects, new ways of constructing the garment.” The models wear beachwear and have their hair in braided pigtails. Another collection by Raffaella D’Angelo is unveiled as part of this show. “The entire collection is ‘Made in Italy,'” says the designer. It features exclusive prints, embroideries, laces, and macrame work. The themes revolve around flowers, she says. President of Parah, a lingerie and swimwear brand, Gregori Piazzalunga, says, “Today we’ll see the younger Parah line, called Parah Online, which is very successful.” Parah is known for extreme wearability. Emanuela Corvo, Creative Director for Emamo, an Italian beachwear brand, says her collection was inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with 70s-style prints added in. Melissa Satta is headlining that show.

THOM BROWNE: Fantastical Metamorphosis in Enchanted Garden for S/S 27 | New York Fashion Week

Published

Thom Browne
ready-to-wear collection
New York Fashion Week

Step into Thom Browne’s fantastical garden and watch his spring/summer 2027 show on FashionTV!

For Spring 2027, Thom Browne transforms his signature tailoring into a surreal, living ecosystem where classic proportions collide with the organic wonder of nature.

Unveiled at New York Fashion Week, the collection charts a poetic metamorphosis, where structured madras plaids, grid check pique, and exaggerated tweeds become the canvas for an intricate insect world.

Sequined flies, gold-bullion ants, and jacquard grasshoppers hide among tufts of embroidered grass, while ladybugs, bees, and poison dart frogs come alive through anatomical color blocking, mesh, and patent leather.

The whimsical story builds through oversized wool cocoon sportscoats and sculptural accessories, from multi-colored grasshopper clutches to platform heels draped in leather butterfly wings, before culminating in a breathtaking emergence of low-slung handkerchief skirts, silk duchess satin, and an ethereal bridal finale.

Balancing twenty-five years of precise American craftsmanship with fantastical storytelling, Browne proves once again that tailoring is an ever-evolving work of art.
