Those Ukrainians who did collaborate with the German occupiers did so in various ways including participating in the local administration, in German-supervised auxiliary police, Schutzmannschaft, in the German military, and serving as concentration camp guards. Nationalists in western Ukraine were among the most enthusiastic and hoped that their efforts would enable them to re-establish an independent state later on. For example, on the eve of Operation' Barbarossa, as many as 4000 Ukrainians, operating under Wehrmacht orders, sought to cause disruption behind Soviet lines. After the capture of Lviv, a highly-contentious and strategically-important city with a significant Ukrainian minority, OUN leaders proclaimed a new Ukrainian State on June 30, 1941 and simultaneously encouraged loyalty to the new regime in the hope that they would be supported by the Germans. Already in 1939, during the German-Polish War, the OUN had been "a faithful German auxiliary".[7]

Professor Ivan Katchanovski writes that during the war, the leadership of OUN B and UPA was heavily engaged in Nazi collaboration. He wrote that at least 23% of its leaders in Ukraine were in the auxiliary police, Schutzmannschaft Battalion 201, as well as in other police formations, and 18% took part in training in Nazi Germany's military and intelligence schools in Germany and Nazi-occupied Poland, 11% served the Nachtigall and Roland Battalions, 8% in local administration during the Nazi occupation and 1% in the SS Galicia Division. According to Katchanovski, the percentage of Nazi collaborators among the OUN-B and UPA leadership is likely higher than those numbers since data from early occupation are often missing.[8]

Despite initially acting warmly to the idea of an independent Ukraine, the Nazi administration had other ideas, particularly the Lebensraum programme and the total 'Aryanisation' of the population. It preferred to play the Slavic nations against one another. OUN initially carried out attacks on Polish villages to try to exterminate Polish populations or expel Polish enclaves from what the OUN fighters perceived as Ukrainian territory.[7] When OUN help was no longer needed, its leaders were imprisoned, and many members were summarily executed. The arrests were only temporary, however, according to professor Katchanovski since 27% of the leadership of OUN B and UPA were arrested at least once, they were released relatively soon or allowed to escape.[9]

According to Timothy Snyder, "something that is never said, because it's inconvenient for precisely everyone, is that more Ukrainian Communists collaborated with the Germans, than did Ukrainian nationalists." Snyder also points out that very many of those who collaborated with the German occupation also collaborated with the Soviet policies in the 1930s.[10]

Chuck Todd MSNBC. Isn’t it interesting that the last two times Russian president Vladimir Putin moved in with his military in regards to Ukraine, Joe Biden was in the White House? Putin took Crimea in 2014 and now he has amassed nearly 200,000 troops on the border with Ukraine. Vladimir Putin never tried this while Trump was president but that didn’t stop the media from calling Trump ‘Putin’s puppet’ for 5 years. What now Biden?

My solution: Let the two Ethic Russian Regions self govern. Have a neutral road Russia can use to get to Crimea by land. Ukraine to not join Nato. Ukraine nationals to be allowed to visit and trade within all those areas unimpeded. No sanctions applied to Russia. Russia to provide economic support and investment in Ukraine to make up for the pain, landgrabs and Ukraine not joining Nato. Ukraine to be allowed to totally self govern in a European manner but with no NATO bases allowed there. All Russian areas eventually accessible to Ukrainians again without restriction to live/visit/trade in but under the regional laws. Russia to agree to no further invasion or incursions as long as Nato kept out. I am British. I have no side here.

I have a question to Macron: what you really have done to oblije Ukraine to fulfil Minsk agreement? Yeah, I know, that in West there is an opinion, that Russia didn fulfil its own part, but NOTHING was made for 8 years NOTHING. if somebody want to deal, he fulfil his own part and says: ball is in your side, ive done mine(or part of mine) But it seems, that Minsk agreement supplied by France only in words from high high stands.

What Putin wants is simple – Ukraine should treat its Russian citizens with respect, and not join NATO. Its not much to ask for. If Ukraine had not started playing western games, they would still have Crimea, and peace with Russia, which is closer to them culturally, linguistically and in religion. The reason for all this is the devious games that the hypocritical colonial west keeps playing. That is the real danger, not Russia!

In my opinion Europe and Russia must make a new Trade ,Energy and Jobs Pact right now. This manufactured Crisis organized by the Energy Traders, the usual Shorters & Call Options Speculators and Weapons Dealers against the Euro and against Cheap EU Energy must fail. Pr. Macron , Ch. Scholz and Pr. VonderLeyen must convince Pr. Putin to be patient, sooner or later the World will learn about the links and financial deals between Kiev Oligarchs, Zelenskiy and the International Energy Traders ,Speculators , Weapons Dealers and their Hedge Funds, Private Equity & Asset Managers profiting in the € billions from this organized Scam to bankrupt Europe and Russia , while making fortunes on expensive Gas , LNG and Oil on the backs of Working Families and the Middle Class in EU, US, UKR and Russia.

Libya’s prime minister has returned to work hours after being released from kidnappers.

Ali Zeidan had been seized at gunpoint by a militia, believed to be angry at the capture of an Al Qaeda suspect by US forces on Libyan territory.

At a cabinet meeting Zeidan sought to reassure other nationalities in the country:

“I would like to assure the foreigners here in Libya that what has just occurred was solely a result of complications within Libyan politics and foreigners are not targets.”

The militia earlier accused of the kidnapped, the Operations Room of Libya’s Revolutionaries, denied any part in it saying the had “no connection to the disappearance of the Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Zeidan”
