Since the November election, politicians in the Netherlands have been scrambling to form a government. This week though, Geert Wilders finally managed to bring together a coalition, one that will see the country go rightwards. In this video, we take a look at the new coalition, it’s policies, and who might end up being the new Prime Minister.

Interesting fact: Caroline can't count and she's proud of it. Whilst a public figure admitting that that is something to be admired, she shouldn't be anywhere near coalition as party leader. How is she supposed to make important fiscal decisions when she doesn't understand numbers?

I'm a Muslim migrant here in NL, and I am surprised that the entire criticism of this new agreement is 'they are right wing' – which to me seems that the left is name calling.
All of these measures have been taken by left wing governments in other countries. They may be wrong. But 'right wing' doesn't seem like apt criticism to me.

This is what all Nationalists want , that they are getting their way in gaining control is more worrying as it restricts liberty and promotes racial superiority which if you think about it, is what Islamic fundamentalists want for themselves , so a Liberal culture war mess , created by tolerance of the intolerable . So tolerance for Religious groups wanting to wield political power, allows other extremists like Wilders to be elected. Instead of the Socialist Liberal policies of central stability, allowing him to rule so long as the main reason is not faced ? Sadly Islamic fundamentalism IS an issue that need to be addressed ,yet are the extremists, the only ones willing to do that ? The left has adopted more Liberal than Socialist policies becoming more independent and selfish, this allows needs to suffer, and tolerance of shoddy practice.

The Netherlands going right is more a concequence of the middle rocket by scandals and populism… I wouldn't surprise me if the more right leaning government fails to deliver or has simular problems 20-30% is going back to voting as before. I think the chance of this 4 party coalition going the full 4 years is far from a reality even. Only takes one party to pull the plug on this coalition… The liberals , the populists, the farmers party , and a new party split from centre left that is calling themselves middle now.

I'm pretty interested if Wilders would kept Rutte decisions to repatriate the stolen artefacts from former Dutch East Indies and settle down the historical disputes regarding to Indonesie Oorlog once and for all or scrapped it altogether and sacrificing the long term aim of Dutch govt to build a friendly relationship with its former biggest colony.

The fact that after the VVD initially ruled out working with the PVV. PVV’s polling skyrocketed even more……
The media should really take a look at themselves. By constantly reporting this type of politicians, they not only give them more attention but also more votes from some classic rebellious voters.

You won't believe it! In the Netherlands, there are about 2 million people with an IQ below 80 who have massively voted for Wilders. They have no idea what populism is and don't understand that Wilders' plans in his draft coalition agreement are unworkable. That's typical populism: promising people what they want to hear, even if it can't be done in practice. And those voters, they just don't see it!

First time ever we don't have a relatively centrist cabinet since the second World War. I really, really hope this cabinet falls quickly, and we get a more leftist government. We've been waiting too long, we cannot delay issues like climate and social security any longer.

Also, quick note: Plasterk is involved in a patents scandal, which might make him unsuitable as PM for NSC and VVD. My guess is Jacques Monasch, a former Labour politician who left the party in 2017 because he felt it wasn't tough enough on migration. He's experienced and hasn't been active in politics for a couple of years now (like Plasterk was), meaning he might be the perfect candidate for Wilders, who basically has no competent people in his party except for Bosma and Agema. Bosma is already speaker of the house, and Agema will likely become the healthcare minister.

well, the whole cattle reduction rejection is absolutely going to get them kicked out of the EU, they don't even need to remove themselves, according to EU laws not abiding by their directives incurs all kinds of fines and penalties potentially leading to their removal from the Union for refusing to implement Brussels' directives.

NSC is a center left wing party. Wtf. How did you get that wrong. He's just surrounded with right wing parties as a campagne strategy. Every pro-PVV'er is most against the NSC. He talks constantly about the poor and he doesn't really talk about identity politics. He was famous for uncovering the right wing scandal and collaborated with extreme left wing parties, Farid Azarkan (specialised in left wing identity politcs) and Renske Leijten (my personal favorite and specialized in left wing economic issues). The only right wing ideas he's known for is being migrant sceptic, (but even the Labour Party and Green Left party was also eurosceptic this election cycle) being pro-farmer (but even he critized mega farms and and having a big "vee-stapel", because it is bad for the envoirnment), and wanting a lower incometax (but he wants that, because he feels it makes the lives of poor people worse). I'm not a big fan of Pieter Omtzigt. I really don't like how he surrounds himself with right wingers and I read his book and followed his past work and he was very left wing and associated himself with left wingers. Now, when he was campagning he probably noticed that the right was going to wing and he went on that right wing train

  45. @agent00meme22

    May 18, 2024 at 9:49 am

you failed to mention that the backpaddling from the NSC and VVD cost them nearly half their seats in the updated polls(and pvv itself growing to over 50 out of 150 seats). And if wilders wanted to he could steer it towards new elections… forcing these parties to abide by his will, not the other way around.
Big aspect and not including this makes you look like an amateur. just a heads up
