We thought we saw it all when this combination came to light at BCBG Max Azria, but apparently, designer Jason Wu also had it on his mind when he brought it to the forefront of his collection at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013. The positioning of leather and lace came together in combination as it did for BCBG, with the appearance of black and white as it did for the beginning portion of the runway. The collection was inspired by a Helmut Newton exhibit that took place at the Parisian Grand Palais this year. These leather harnesses were back and the colors, when they came through, were bold (coral and navy blue mixed with tulle and suspenders.) Of course, the biggest imprint may have been opening model Carolyn Murphy making an exclusive appearance and the idea that this collection isn’t for the faint at heart. Hear that, Michelle Obama?
