On Wednesday Portugal’s budget failed, being rejected by a majority of MPs in the country. That’s a big issue as it’s reflective of the countries political troubles, with the ruling party unable to scrape a majority together. So in this video we discuss the budget, why it failed & what it means for the future of Portugal (probably another election)

Well, it might be hard for you to understand. In east Europe this is common practice. It is called the politics of blocking – simply don't allow anyone else to do or achieve anything.
If you can block any new law, movement, or idea – block it. If you can't block it, then boycott it, organize mass protests, hire bruisers, start riots, or a civil war.
Everyone is your enemy, so don't make any permanent alliances – if someone is supporting you, then use them as scapegoats until they cease to exist, their supporters now supporting you.
Don't even try to do anything progressive – define yourself as NOT being the other party, as the opposition of virtually any value. This way you can't be attacked in a similar way. Work your way carefully destroying everything and everyone else – until only you remain. Then be careful – only grab power when you can grab absolute power. And from that point on, change the laws in a way that you can never again lose this absolute power.
Why the people would support you, you ask? They will support you just because you're killing all the alternatives. Just position yourself as the "least of all evils", and everyone will just vote for you. You don't even have to promise anything any more, let alone do anything for the citizens!
So yeah, it makes absolute sense. This is how you turn politics into a battlefield in order to become a dictator. And – it works.
Remember, never allow one political party, one politician to exterminate its opposition, no matter how saintly they seem, no matter how right they are. No one can resist the temptation of power, everyone in that position will turn to be a dictator. And then you are doomed!

Greetings from the AP train this morning…December 1 and another round of Restrictions…I'm currently enjoying an " Snickers" variant on an empty train…Having lived in Portugal the past 4 years and observing the behavior here of some…The government has Champagne taste with "Cerveja" pocket money…and if not for the ECB it would be more like Bica money…Bom natal and Boas Festas…🇵🇹🥳🚄☕🍺⚽️🤘👏🤙👊

  18. @priltzer

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

Simple example: a literary prize in Portugal is rulled by the communist party, so, the prize goes for a far left person and not for a virtuous one, even if the artist doesn't give a damn about politics. To get a good job in Portugal, you need to be part of the elite (son, nephew, wife, grandson, etc)… Forget the political ideology. In practice, they are nepotists. Even the communists…

  19. @priltzer

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

Are you Portuguese? The socialists are a bunch of criminals, like the mobsters. The average Portuguese votes for an idea, but the socialists are more like fascists in practice. E. G. The heads of the TV networks are from the prime minister's family (he's a socialist). There's no such thing as left or right in Portugal. The communists are a cancer and they really rule the government like a shadow, the right is only a way to get a job In the parlament as the "opposition" and get a lot of money… As soon as you arrive in the politics, everything is open for you in Portugal: deals, money loundry, etc… And the best of all: they are all anti-jews. So… Everything you hear from Portugal is probably a lie.

Portugal has a socialist party, a left party, a communist party, and a social democratic party. In the US, we have a right-ring party and a fascist party 🙁

  24. @shantyclips6358

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

So, communists are just fine but you have to "warn" about the so-called far-right? You guys are such transparent pushovers who will swallow any narrative set by the mainstream media…

  25. @mdser86

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

PCP and BE are far left totalitarians that openly uphold maxist-leninist, maoist and trostkyist ideals… and that if left unchecked would end freedom and democracy for good. The Socialist party was playing with fire.

  26. @praxmac6845

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

It's time for a Liberal Party to win in Portugal. Iniciativa Liberal gang

  27. @floxy20

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

A major problem with European democracy is the system of proportional representation and the consequent failure to elect strong majority governments. You end up with fringe parties wielding too much power. It should be noted that because in Europe the word "Socialism" is a good word for many people many political parties appropriate it in their names, like "Democrat" or "Democracy" in North America.

They know why the budget failed. They can't just say (not convenient) that they just think about politics parties, and are never honest among the population.

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

If they had their own Soverign Currency & own Central Bank which was accountable to the Public; & small Community Banks…..instead of the ECB.

  32. @AliceP.

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

They call that a political crisis, do they? Here in Brazil all of that wouldn't even make it to the news.

  33. @HighAdmiral

    May 22, 2024 at 9:28 am

Interesting video. Saw this on my feed and decided to check out whether it contained accurate information, and indeed it does.
PS wants to give PSD the prime-ministry on a silver platter but PSD is too busy tearing itself apart to accept it… feels bad, man.
