After a decade long battle by the British Government to deport him, radical cleric Abu Qatada has finally left the country.
He was flown out of RAF Northolt to Jordan where he was taken straight to the country’s State Security Court and formally charged with terrorism.
The palestinian-born preacher was once described by a Spanish judge as “Osama bin Laden’s righthand man in Europe”
The British Government had been battling the courts since 2005 to send him home. The stalemate ended last month when Jordan signed an extradition treaty that evidence obtained through torture could not be used against him. Qatada had pledged in May to leave Britain if the treaty was fully ratified.
The British prime minister, David Cameron, welcomed Qatada’s removal:

Libya’s prime minister has returned to work hours after being released from kidnappers.
Ali Zeidan had been seized at gunpoint by a militia, believed to be angry at the capture of an Al Qaeda suspect by US forces on Libyan territory.
At a cabinet meeting Zeidan sought to reassure other nationalities in the country:
“I would like to assure the foreigners here in Libya that what has just occurred was solely a result of complications within Libyan politics and foreigners are not targets.”
The militia earlier accused of the kidnapped, the Operations Room of Libya’s Revolutionaries, denied any part in it saying the had “no connection to the disappearance of the Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Zeidan”

Germany’s Chancellor Merkel shies away from fully backing Juncker for Commission post
German chancellor Angela Merkel has shied away from fully backing Jean-Claude Juncker to be the European Commission’s next president.
Juncker is the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP) candidate for the top job.
Despite winning more seats in the EU parliament than any other group, Merkel said that was not the only factor to consider.
”Of course with regard to Jean-Claude Juncker’s candidacy it has been said several times that the important thing is which of the parliamentary group…

High tides test Bangkok’s flood defences
http://www.euronews.net/ High tides are putting flood defences to the test in Bangkok as Thailand battles its worst floods in over half a century.
At least 377 people have been killed since heavier-than-usual monsoon rains began in July.
The floodwaters cover about 1.6 million hectares — an area roughly the size of Kuwait.
Thailand’s prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra says water levels around the capital should drop next week.

The UK needs an inspired plan because in 15 or 20 years it will face a serious muslim problem, one that the current legal system can't possibly cope with. Muslim numbers in the UK are increasing, inexorably, whilst traditional white populations are on the decline due to low fertility. This is nothing less than catastrophic. We've arrived at a crossroads of history: what Brits do or don't do in this century will determine whether the UK, as you know it, has a worthwhile future

It was this government's Conservative predecessors that allowed Abu Qatad into Great Britain: September 1993 he [Abu Qatada] fled with his wife and five children to the UK, using a forged UAE passport…
I have a hard enough time, as UK citizen, with a genuine UK passport, getting into Great Britain.
