Don't start this membership with a huge compromise of the EU! Please! At this point Ukraine does not need to become a full member in order to be in a fare more favorable position. Russia is berried 2m deep under sanction and there it should stay. In the moment Ukraine gains full capacity they can choose! maybe they will change their mind! The EU has no moral duty, it will not let Ukraine be a member. You have enormous corruption, you violate the human rights of minorities, referenda in countries such as Holland are against Ukraine entering. Your economy is not good etc. Build first your country and do not drag Europe in your tail to war with Russia. When your house is on order it will take another 10 years to honor an application. You are not becoming a member of a football club or comic theater performance group.

Of course, you have no choice but weapons when you have neighbors willing to come in your house and shoot you away. If Putin wanted to unite with Ukraine he could have offered a better deal than what EU or NATO were offering. A country rich in oil and gas could offer a great standard of living to its citizens. Why did he have to use violence?
