Meloni isn’t right wing. Immigration doubled under her. It’s like saying cdu is right wing although they have gender quotas for their party and support woke policies

she is incredibly clever and well prepared on any single political matter, either domestic politics and geopolitics. I have never witnessed such an energic and well prepared politician in the last 20 years in Italy.

Given that Italy's national debt is 134% of its GDP, Meloni is likely to assert that Italy cannot repay the loans from Germany. The dark ages will return!😊

  12. @Dreyno

    June 6, 2024 at 10:48 am

Meloni wasn’t as radical as she portrayed herself when she was campaigning. ÉPP probably think enticing her towards the centre would be good for them, Europe and Italy in the long term.

  13. @syketurah

    June 6, 2024 at 10:48 am

Lega did not moderate its stance towards Europe, they campaigned on the slogan "more Italy less Europe", and Salvini went off again about Soros as puppeteer of our destinies. Luckily they also worry about important stuff: the communism behind plastic water bottle caps being part of the bottle, or the just passed new law for 2&1/2 years in jail if displaying images of marijuana leaves on clothing. Lega's candidate for the European parliament General Vannacci enthusiastically slips references to "legions" and fascist militia X-mas in his campaign. Professional clowns as politicians would be a net improvement.

Can some Austrians explain to me: why are pro-Russian pro-Putin politicians so popular in Austria? Austria is a wealthy happy country benefiting from being in the centre of Europe – why would you support the fascist genocidal Russia? How is that popular in Austria of all countries. You have a great and proud history of bringing enlightment to central Europe, including Ukraine. You built beautiful cities, operas, academies all over Europe. Why do you now support Russia who only wants to destroy all that? If you look at Lviv, don’t you see Austrian history there? Why do you support Putin shooting missiles at it?
