Video: Obama catches fainting pregnant woman during healthcare announcement
A woman appeared close to fainting as she stood behind U.S. President Barack Obama during his speech on the steps of the White House Rose Garden on Monday (October 21).
The president was delivering remarks on the Affordable Care Act, surrounded by a group of Americans who had successfully enrolled in new health insurance plans as part of his signature healthcare law.
Standing just behind Obama, wearing a red dress, Karmel Allison teetered and swayed backwards, and took deep breaths as the president spoke.
“I got you. You’re okay,” Obama said to Allison, before she was escorted up the steps and out of the Rose Garden.
The White House said Allison has had Type 1 diabetes since she was nine years old.
