Egyptians rally against Mubarak’s rule

Inspired by Tunisia’s Jasmine Revolution, tens of thousands of Egyptians have taken to the streets in unprecedented protests that have left at least three people dead.

Across the country, crowds gathered to chant anti-government slogans.

“Down with Hosni Mubarak” they shouted, referring to the 82-year-old president who has ruled for three decades.

Such dissent is rarely tolerated in Mubarak’s Egypt but after being denied democracy for so long, the protesters say they want an end to authoritarian rule.
