She’s Cute But She Roars Already! – Siberian Tiger Cub At Berlin Zoo

Siberian tiger cub Alisha made her first appearance at the Berlin zoo on Thursday (January 22). Born just over a month ago on December 10, the little baby tiger had a difficult start to life. Her mother gave birth to triplets, but two cubs died after only 11 days as the mother didn’t have enough milk for them. On December 24 zookeepers decided to bottle-feed Alisha as she too had lost a lot of weight. Since Christmas the tiger cub has put on around three kilograms and now weighs just over five kilograms.

“We managed to feed this cub up quite a bit, and when you look at her, the milk teeth are through and the canine teeth, and she is very lively. She shows interest in everything going around her and wants to explore. You can see it here, you have to stop her as with her young age she doesn’t know what is dangerous for her or what is not good for her. Then you have to intervene,” zookeeper Petra Schroeder explained.

Alisha’s first outing was limited to journalists only, but in two or three weeks zoo visitors should have the chance to see the cuddly new arrival.
