France honours Stephane Hessel

http://www.euronews.com/ France has paid its respects to the former French Resistance fighter and author Stephane Hessel who died last week aged 95. Hessel’s “Time for outrage” inspired social protesters the world over. President François Hollande was joined by leading political and cultural figures as he delivered the funeral oration. Hessel was later buried at Montparnasse cemetery.

“Some manuscripts date back almost 1,000 years,” said Ahmed al-Alyawi, who heads the House of Manuscripts body. Iraqi antiques and cultural heritage have often been plundered during decades of conflict.
