http://www.euronews.com/ A powerful car-bomb has exploded in Homs in central Syria, killing at least 15 civilians and wounding dozens more.

A video uploaded to the internet purports to show the aftermath of the explosion in the city’s Hamra district. Many residential buildings were caught in the blast.

One witness warned that the number of dead is likely to rise because many of the injuries sustained by the survivors were very serious.

Elsewhere, rebels trying to overthrow the Assad regime have the Damascus International Airport and the centre of the capital in their sights, but have come under heavy government bombardment from artillery and airstrikes.

At least ten rebels are also reported to have been killed in the town of Deir al-Asafir on the outskirts of the city.
