Inspired by the millennia-old “Tea-Horse Trade,” the collection seeks to connect the basin and the plateau, using clothing as a cultural bridge between East and West. Drawing from the diverse ethnic cultures along the route, including Han, Tibetan, Naxi, and Bai, Sean Suen reinterprets the road’s multi-ethnic aesthetics through the language of fashion. The collection’s color palette mirrors the landscapes traversed, restoring the majesty of the plateau, while natural materials like wool and leather are combined with modern fabrics to balance functionality and comfort. By exploring traditional clothing, customs, and beliefs, Sean Suen uses fashion as a metaphorical steed, creatively retracing this historic route and blending past and future.
