Cameron grilled on thorny issues during Afghan visit
Who will fill the gap left behind when Western forces leave Afghanistan, and could there be a future role for the Taliban? Those are some of the key questions dealt with by the British Prime Minister on a visit to the country.
David Cameron confirmed a date for the end of UK combat operations. “Yes we will be drawing down some of our troops this year and next year,” he said. “And yes, we will be ending combat operations by the end of 2014. We won’t have troops in anything like that number we have now, but we will have a long term relationship.”
