Tourist heaven for thrill-seekers: Alpine glass cabin over 1km sheer drop

Published

on

It is not for the faint-hearted or anyone afraid of heights. But if stepping into a glass cabin, over a sheer drop of over a kilometre, is your idea of fun, you will love the latest attraction opening in the French Alps this weekend. Dubbed the Chamonix Skywalk, the box stands in the Mont Blanc massif range.

And if nerves of steel are needed to enjoy the breathtaking view from the box, just imagine how brave you would have to be to build it. Three years in development, it juts out from the more than 3,800 metre high “Aiguille du Midi” mountain peak. Each side is made up of three layers of glass and winds of 220km/h can be withstood.
