Hans-Christian Stroebele, a member of Germany’s opposition Green party, said he met former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden in Moscow on Thursday. He is expected to give details of the secret meeting later.

Stroebele, a well-known maverick in German politics, posted a picture of himself with Snowden on Twitter. He said on his website that Snowden gave him a letter addressed to German authorities which he will present in Berlin later today.

Speaking about Snowden in an interview on German television station ARD, Stroebele said:

“He made it clear he knows a lot and that as long as the
National Security Agency (NSA) blocks investigations…, he is prepared to come to Germany and give testimony, but the conditions must be discussed.”

Germany’s government was one of many that rejected an asylum request from Snowden earlier this year.

Meanwhile Snowden will start a new job working for a Russian website later this month, according to lawyer Anatoly Kucherena.

Snowden’s revelations about the reach and methods of the
NSA, including the monitoring of internet traffic and phone records, have angered U.S. allies from Germany to Brazil. Admirers call him a human rights champion and critics denounce him as a traitor.

Chips are down for Intel’s CEO

http://www.euronews.com/ The head of the computer chip giant Intel is to retire next year.

Paul Ottelini has been CEO since 2005.

The company that dominates personal computers has been struggling recently, mainly due to the consumer’s new love-affair with smart-phones and tablets, technology where Britain’s ARM Holdings is king.

Intel, which is known for finding chief execs from within the company, said they would also consider external candidates.
