Tensions rise in Egypt

Hundreds of Egyptians have refused to leave Tahrir Square in central Cairo, despite the army’s attempt to make them disperse.

They have vowed to stay put until former president Hosni Mubarak is brought to trial, and other demands are met.

Many are angry that the army used batons and tasers in their efforts to clear the area, and some say live rounds were used.

One news agency is reporting witness claims that upto three people have been killed.

The Military Council has been broadly supported since it took control but unease is growing….
