THINKING ABOUT BECOMING A HOME INSPECTOR?

If you are here to watch the free home inspection videos, check out the playlists. I have the videos divided into categories to make them easier to find. Playlists include: Inspecting, plumbing, inspecting foundations, inspecting roofs. Watch our videos and watch my hair slowly turn gray over 24 years of inspecting!

About me:
I am Matt Fletcher, a licensed builder, real estate investor, former high school construction teacher and full-time home and commercial inspector of 24 years. I have a master’s degree in education with additional certification to teach construction.

I was doing home inspections part-time while teaching construction full-time at Roseville High School in Roseville Michigan. The district cut the trades program and laid several of us off, so I started doing home inspections full-time around 2006.

I needed continuing education credits for my inspection certification, so I took a construction course at my local community college. My instructor was Joe Vaglica, PhD, PE. Joe is also the program director for the construction management program at Wayne State University as well as owning Gateway Engineering and Surveying.

Long story short, Joe and I went into business together doing facade and structural inspections in Detroit Michigan under the name Belle Isle Engineering www.BelleIsleEngineering.com I also own MIproperty.com, DetroitHomeInspector.com and DetroitFacadeInspectors.com

We often get questions about becoming a home inspector so, we have begun posting free videos to help new inspectors. The biggest question people have is “How much can I make?” It depends on how hard you want to work and your background. If you are a hard worker with a well-rounded construction background you can do very well for yourself. My own inspection business took off well enough that I never considered going back to teaching.

I think the inspection business is not just a job, it is a lifestyle. My wife is a Registered Nurse and operating room nurse at a major hospital in Detroit. She works three12 hour shifts per week. I am semi-retired now and I also work an average of 3 days per week, but I only work 6-8 hours a day and I make the same money my wife does. My work is more seasonal, busy in the summer and slow in the winter, but the average is 3 days a week and I make a good living. I spend my time off time fishing and taking trips to northern Michigan. I can write off my truck as a business expense as well as my home office and tools and that is why I call it a lifestyle.

I am also a real estate investor and have bought, fixed and sold many homes. When everyone was losing their house during the real estate crash, I bought TWO. The house we live in was purchased for $105,000 cash and it is now worth $385,000 with very little renovation work done to it. And when we sell this house, the profit will be tax free because it is our primary residence. Being a real estate investor or house flipper is another aspect to being a successful home inspector.

If you are like me, you have the skills to inspect a house, and fix it and you know many realtors who can find you deals….why wouldn’t you flip a house here and there when you have time? Like I said, it is a lifestyle, I love the freedom, the time off, the good money, the power tools and the 3/4 ton 4×4 truck I drive and can ‘write off’ as a business expense. It’s been a great career, good luck in your career whatever it is.

http://www.FashionTV.com MILAN – Creative Director Monica Ciabattini says the Le Silla Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection was inspired by the movie “Desperately Seeking Susan” starring Madonna. “We thought about leather jackets…zippers, and so we created something very strong,” she says. Designer Ennio Silla says the shoes are exclusively created in Italy. Flashy pumps decorated with crystals are part of an exclusive collection for the line. “This is really our expression for the Le Silla brand,” adds Ciabattini. Ciabattini showcases the Spring/Summer 2012 ad campaign photo, which was shot by Terry Richardson.

Issey Miyake: Whispers of Bamboo for S/S 27 | Paris Men Fashion Week

Published

on

Discover the intersection of nature and architecture by watching the spring/summer 2026 show of Issey Miyake on FashionTV!

The “In Praise of Bamboo Shadows” collection offers a serene, masterfully executed study in movement, light, and delicate craft. Designed by the creative trio Nobutaka Kobayashi, Sen Kawahara, and Yuki Itakura, the runway transformed into a tranquil sanctuary set against translucent screens and towering bamboo structures.

Inspired by East Asian ink wash paintings and traditional katazome kimono stencil dyeing, the collection translates nature’s fluid geometry into weightless, contemporary menswear.

Signature pleats return reimagined in sheer organza and fluid silks, alongside gradient-bleached lightweight denim, sculptural dolman sleeves, and garments woven directly from real bamboo leaves. Moving from stark monochrome and earthy bamboo tones to vibrant accents of mint green and royal blue, the line balances meditative precision with architectural functionality.

Alchetipo: Fractured Elegance for F/W 26-27 | Milan Fashion Week, Off-Calendar

Published

Step inside Alchetipo’s distorted ritual and witness tailoring unravel into raw emotion on FashionTV!

Explore the fall/winter 26/27 collection and reserve your front-row view to a ceremony stitched to break at Lineapelle Designers Edition during Milan Fashion Week. Fashion has long served as a stage for human emotion, but few collections capture the volatile tension of love and expectation quite like Alchetipo’s newest 2026/27 runway show, presented in collaboration with Lineapelle Designers Edition.

Entitled “A Ceremony Stitched To Break,” the collection transforms the runway into an imploding ritual. Classic Italian tailoring – the very symbol of restraint and decorum – is bruised, pierced, and exposed. By juxtaposing fluid 100% Made in Italy wools, glitch-printed Prince of Wales patterns, and structural calfskin, Alchetipo crafts garments that mimic the emotional weight of a crumbling union.

Steel razor-sharp bow ties, multi-layered knot jewelry by Aura Florentia, and forbidden thistle blooms hidden in lapels serve as silent confessions under the runway lights. It is a striking exploration of beauty bound by friction, where every stitch holds the threat of coming undone.

Ensure you never miss an update from the runway!
