With 87 kilometres of slope and 66 lifts, the ski resorts outside of Tehran offer some of the best pistes in Asia – and no one knows about them.

Austrian freeskier Fabian Lentsch is no stranger to the unfamiliar.

He’s travelled all over the world in search of powder: from the pristine pistes of the Alps, to the peculiar peaks of Georgia.

But his most recent adventure might just top the lot. Fed up of spending a week here and a week there, the professional skier set about embedding himself in Tehran – the bustling capital of Iran, and “one of the world’s most underrated ski towns”.
