[등잔 밑의 글감]
Message 1. 분량과 시간을 정해 글쓰기
“글이 정말 안써질 때에는 맨땅에 헤딩을 하듯 무작위로 키워드를 주워옵니다. 가령 ‘테이프, 라이언, 사랑, 남자’ 이런 키워드를 모아놓고 책상에 편히 앉아서 분량과 시간을 정해요. 그리고 그걸 조합해 글쓰는 훈련을 하는 거예요. 그렇게 써보는 연습을 하면 내가 쓰고 싶었던 글을 쓰는 것도 좀 덜 어렵게 느껴지더라고요.”
Message 2. 글은 새벽이 아닌 맨정신에
“느끼한 글이란 오글거리는 글을 말해요. 글이 오글거리는 이유는 독자와 작가의 거리가 너무 멀기 때문인데요. 즉 독자보다 작가가 혼자 저 멀리까지 미리 가 있는거죠. 새벽에는 글 마귀가 돌아다녀요. 그 저주가 바로 아침의 부끄러움이에요. 그러니 이 자리에서 한번 더 강조할게요. 새벽에 쓰지 말고 맨정신에 쓰세요. 또 새벽에 쓰더라도 업로드는 꼭, 낮에 가뿐한 마음으로 하세요”
Message 3. 과감하게 삭제하고 즐기자
“글에도 다이어트가 필요합니다. 항상 어떤 글이건 없으면 훨씬 더 좋은 글이 될 문장 혹은 문단들이 있어요. 그것들을 과감하게 삭제하는 연습이 필요해요. 그리고 즐기는거죠. 글 쓰는 것 자체를 즐기는 것만큼 글 쓰는 일에 좋은 추진력은 없으니까요.”
