“Good News” es la primera música lanzada oficialmente por Mac Miller desde su muerte en septiembre de 2018. También es el primer sencillo del sexto álbum de estudio de Miller y su primer proyecto póstumo, Circles . La canción apareció por primera vez en línea el 1 de septiembre de 2019. En ese momento, se rumoreaba que formaba parte de un proyecto inédito en el que Miller estaba trabajando en el momento del lanzamiento de su quinto álbum de estudio, Swimming, en agosto de 2018. Más tarde fue lanzado , junto con un video musical que lo acompaña , y finalmente se confirmó que estaba en su álbum póstumo, Circles , el 9 de enero de 2020.
En la pista, Miller discute muchos de los mismos temas vistos en su último disco, Swimming . Habla sobre no sentir alivio de los sentimientos negativos en la vida, mientras que las personas que lo rodean solo quieren que diga que es bueno, que quieren suprimir los sentimientos negativos que tiene todo el tiempo.
El video musical de la pista presenta clips de la música de grabación de Miller, así como muchos paisajes de naturaleza animados que representan las partes positivas del mundo que Miller quiere encontrar en la pista.
