Western Europe sets new temperature record hitting 900 million people worldwide
Last month saw the highest average temperature ever recorded and alarming soil humidity figures across Western Europe, Copernicus said.
Regions home to 900 million people underwent their hottest July on record, including the Sahel, Central America, France, and Spain.

How heatwaves are reshaping Switzerland’s glaciers
Switzerland’s Rhône Glacier has lost more than four metres of ice in just one month after two periods of extreme heat in June and July. According to GLAMOS, the glacier has been melting at an average rate of around 10 centimetres a day, with low winter snowfall leaving the ice especially vulnerable.
