Three American university professors have been awarded the 2013 Nobel prize for economics for research that has improved the long-term forecasting of asset prices.

Eugene Fama, Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago; Lars Peter Hansen, Professor of Economics and Statistics at the University of Chicago; and Robert Shiller, Professor of Economics at the University of Yale have been jointly awarded the 8 million krona (910,000 euro) prize.
