Frustration as tightened EU border checks begin
“New legislation”:http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=OJ:L:2017:074:FULL&from=EN has come into effect to tighten border controls “across the EU”:http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEX-17-910_en.htm, with a particular emphasis on countries at the bloc’s external borders.
Officials warned this, in addition to systematic checks on all third-country nationals entering the Schengen Zone, was likely to prompt longer queues at frontier checkpoints.
