Sartorial Storytelling by Paul Smith for F/W 26-27, Milan Fashion Week | FashionTV | FTV
Bundle up in the style of the fall/winter 2026-2027 collection of Paul Smith presented at Milan Fashion Week! The collection centers on the concept of “magpie dressing,” a theme inspired by the joy of collecting treasures and gathering eclectic stories throughout Paul’s fifty-five-year career. To bring a fresh perspective to the label, Paul Smith collaborated closely with his long-time mentee and newly appointed Head of Men’s Design, Sam Cotton. Together, they delved into the brand’s Nottingham-based archive of nearly 5,000 garments to reimagine iconic silhouettes from the late 1980s and early 1990s for the modern man. The resulting designs feature “interrupted classics,” showcasing deconstructed and inside-out details that highlight a sophisticated yet witty British charm, using Harris Tweed and Donegal fabrics. Color plays a pivotal role this season, with deep autumnal shades serving as a canvas for vibrant punctuation marks and prints inspired by Japanese color theory. Playful elements abound, such as hand-drawn pears juxtaposed with archival polka dots, experimenting with transparency and shadow. Personal history is also woven into the fabric of the collection, quite literally, as selected works from Paul’s father’s photography archive are printed onto shirting.
