Admire the fall/winter 2026-2027 show of Saint Laurent presented at Paris Fashion Week! Anthony Vaccarello delivered a collection that felt like the house at its most essential – pure structure, precise cut, and emotional depth stripped of anything superfluous. The opening was uncompromising: a phalanx of single- and double-breasted black suits, shaded with the faintest echo of late 1970s severity yet unmistakably of today. Shoulders slope with quiet authority, waists are sharply defined but never aggressive, creating a fluid conversation between masculine precision and feminine ease. This is tailoring that does not shout power; it simply is power, worn with insouciant grace. Silicone-coated sheer lace appears for evening, holding its form with the severity of tailoring while dissolving into supple movement. Shearling outerwear, softly capacious and belted at the hip, offers shelter and comfort in equal measure. The palette moves from the blackest black to painterly depths – burnt sienna, teal, French blue, the deepest browns, lifted by soaring golden dove jewelry that feels both sculptural and talismanic. Vaccarello’s references were cinematic and literary: Romy Schneider’s elegant ennui in Max et les Ferrailleurs, Tennessee Williams’ troubled Mrs. Stone, Gore Vidal’s questioning directness in The City and the Pillar. Out of these, he distilled a celebration of profound personal feeling over hollow spectacle.
