euronews le mag – Picasso in black and white
http://www.euronews.com/ New York’s Guggenheim Museum has been taken over by stunning black and white monochromatic art. The museum is currently presenting its new exhibition, “Picasso Black and White” which focuses on Spanish artist Pablo Picasso’s lifelong exploration of the black-and-white palette. The show features 118 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from 1904 to 1971.
The art on display does not belong to one single period, as he was inspired by the simplicity and power of monochrome throughout his life.
Impressive black-and-white canvasses figure among his vibrant interpretations of historical masterpieces, such as the series he dedicated to Velazquez’s Meninas.
The art on show has come from private and public collections in Europe and the United States – six of which have never before been exhibited before.
“Picasso Black and White” will run until the end of January.
