Dalli, Barroso trade barbs over ‘Tobaccogate’
Former EU health commissioner john Dalli says European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso forced him out of office over a tobacco lobbying scandal.
The pair testified at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg on Monday.
Dalli left the EU executive amid allegations that his aides sought to take bribes from a Swedish tobacco company.
The Maltese brought the case against the commission saying that he was bullied out of his job nearly two years ago.
