Putin’s Demands for NATO and America Explained – TLDR News
Towards the end of 2021 Putin’s Russia published two sets of demands; one for the US and another for NATO. So in this video, we’re going to be looking at what’s in Putin’s most recent set of demands, why they’re, well, pretty demanding, and whether they’re best understood as a maximalist negotiating position or a pretext for invasion.

2:51 You say it's "a pretty tall order" that US has many nukes to remove, while Russia hasn't (since there are none). Sounds as if Russia asks for too much, although it's actually USA's fault to have so many nukes out there. 4:53 Mentioning of withdrawal details were surprising, since it's also not done for the others. Obviously, complete security environment restoration to 1997 is implicated for both sides, so it's only fair. 5:03 You forgot that USA is seen as earlier violator. 5:31 If a state signs the treaty it exercises it's rights by shaping them, it's opposite of violation. You argue then, it is against NATO statutes if all NATO members sign a treaty that indirectly changes NATO statutes that need all members to agree to be changed. A little bit pedantic, isn't it? 5:52 Art. 7 is indeed confusing and asking for negotiation. Also, you steadily forget to mention that non-deployment of weapons doesn't forbid resident-owned weaponry. I think the proposals are good starting points and asking only a little bit too much.

The question is why does the nato want to explain its military powers to russia s borders? He clearly said i only want ur army away from my country .. and as the dude said in the beginnin usa and europe and japan and all are joining hands only so russian is sourounded and cant speak up which makes his demands logical cuz they want to unite only to submit or souround other countries including russia its very obvious putin is defending his country from western military forces that are coming closer to his country.. and its wierd how all thinks this is putin s war while its obviously his attempt to defend his bourders annnnd making negociations that nato is obviously declining without any explanation ..why nato is ready to start a war rather than letting ukrainia be its own like it was for years

OK so play the "be careful what you wish for" scenario. Putin does NOT back down on his demands and uses the failed negotiations as a pretext for invading Ukraine. So he starts a bloody war with Ukraine, a country that he can occupy but never control this time around. Ukraine is way too far down the road to tolerate another Victor Yanikovitch. Putin overplayed this hand so badly that Yanikovitch had to flee for his life. Technically, he'll be arrested and put on trial if he ever returned. So, there is no way that another Russian Puppet will be tolerated which means occupation. meaning Russia becomes an even bigger international pariah while they wallow in Ukraine at great cost financially and otherwise. Assuming Russian forces are bogged down in Ukraine that leaves little room for further expansion and will mean that NATO will start beefing up defenses elsewhere in Eastern Europe. So what exactly does Putin end up with in 5 years? An even weaker economy, an empire it can't hold together and a future on the margins of the international community. What do YOU think of this scenario TLDR?
@MrJaldal

I have a question to ask the world since when does Russia tell all of Europe and the world that Swisserland .Finland, the Ukraine, Germany,Britain,Ireland,India,Poland Czechoslovakia Yugoslavia Bulgaria, Italy, and Israel was he did Israel a couple days ago shutting Israel everything from the jammers which is like EMF but it's a little different down let's not forget all of them at least two you shut all that you stole all the middle leaves two that he can or will Russia can and will take the the military will take the country of the Ukraine which is a Sovereign Nation it's also the second largest country in Europe he told everybody in the world in a book he wrote he said the greatest tragedy of the twentieth century was the fall of the Russian Empire Empire she he thinks a exactly the same as Joseph Stalin then he'll be leaving Mass Graves Vladimir Putin gave a speech this week using the USSR flag the Communist flag when he Declared Switzerland ,Finland cannot and now putting in the USSR are demanding that all the United States and our all of her friends that all of Eastern Europe belongs to the USSR that is a separate treaty for NATO county's pretty much same thing they don't want any interference with anything you go on in Eastern Europe that's the one on the stalling took after World War II all of Eastern Europe. Here's what I would do I would do this I would never let a country letter country like Russia draw any treaty up and demand that the rest of us signed or else here's what I would do I wouldn't show up for any negotiation with the with Russia/ or I call them the new improved USSR new and improved Czar and since the late 1500s buy the year of 1600 the Romanov family command of Russia and every Czar only had two responsibility's 1st. Moving to new territories and conquer them for Mother Russia 2nd have a male heir this interesting everything you ever did when you have a tyrant or what I call little man syndrome remembering this book he said this the greatest tragedy of the 20th century was the USSR winding up in Ash heap of History President Ronald Reagan said that's what happen and it did do you know what schedule Russians the most is Ronald Reagan would not leave us in an in a spot like taking the Star Wars system off the table for us to protect ourselves and our alleys we need to get a businesses up and running again and better make world-class products and services so that can pay for Star Wars for us and our allies and we will not negotiate with Russia and I have it on DEFCON 5 right now everybody should know what that is I don't need to explain and there's things that we have that we haven't used we haven't spoken about and then I will be spoken about if they make a move if Russia makes a move the USSR makes move we need to use the things that remain unsaid that we do have in place that's what I think anyway we need to get all our nuclear submarine we need to start running the pole the North Pole all the time 24-hours a day 365 days a year I have one more matter to discuss is bothering me I hope Edward Snowden didn't betray the United States of America that means being debriefed By Russia. That has to be Crossing some people's minds right about not everything needs to be changed in our intelligence committees right now. It's a Russian vessels coming here to Venezuela. And. Cuba I wouldn't wait for Russia to set up nuclear missiles

NATO's eastern expansion is same thing as if during the Cold War the Soviets brought Mexico into the Warsaw Pact. NATO needs to give some kind of sphere of influence guarantee so the Russians do not decide to deploy nukes to Cuba or Venezuela.

Imagine if Canada became a strong Russian military ally, and allowed Russia to deploy troops along the US border. Americans would be asking for the same terms as Putin is now.

Putin knows he is falling behind. He can not compete economically with China, EU, USA, or anyone really. He could compete with individual states in the EU, but even then there are countries that just outclass the entire Russia. And his only argument, the nuclear arsenal, is losing it's meaning by the day due to the anti-missile systems. So he acts tough and tries to make unreasonable demands. Because that is basically the only thing he has left. Acting.

So Russia sought to go full Munich 1938 on NATO ? Even war is preferable to that – because they would have invaded us anyway had the US conceded. This is a declaration of war and is should be treated as such.

Putins argument for invasion is the equivalent to setting someones house on fire, offering to paying off 30% of the cost to rebuild the house, getting rejected and then shooting them for not accepting your offer to begin with and then blaming them for not being willing to negociate

Its all talk and fluffery by Putin to create a event to cause gas prices to rise. Thats where he makes his fortunes. The threat of conflict is all it takes.

Should the ex Soviet States not decide by themselves what they want?. Why is Russia wanting to still dictate (interfere) their future?

It's pretty hard to understand what Putin really wants and what is his game. Until now he seemed to be a cautious but determined leader. He felt when NATO (mostly the US but also his EU allies too) was weak and played a strong card (Ukraine invasion), moved to block a NATO move (Georgia invasion), and so on.
But this set of demands doesn't make sense. Does he know something we don't know? Economically Russia is not doing well, a war against Ukraine and the consequent sanctions will make the situation much worse. Unless he wants much more than Ukraine and bet on other "buffer" states to not use nukes in defending themselves. Has the situation in China a place in his game?
If I'd be NATO and/or the US I wouldn't reject those proposals, I'll send them back for "rephasing" with a public note: "Mr. Putin, we're very sure you know NATO isn't interested in attacking Russia and it was, in the past, interested in having Russia join our ranks. Also, we're sure you don't want to deny the right of auto-determination of people and you're not interested in direct controlling those "buffer" states. This set of demands doesn't make sense in the 21st century and makes you look weak and afraid. Please kill the one who wrote these and assign someone else with some brain. We're waiting…"
