The nominal left be like "America/NATO bad no matter what" and "Russia good no matter what" despite all evidence to the contrary.
The brain rot amongst these people is remarkable to me, and it seems to always be the same people that try to convince everyone that every one really was a traitor in Stalin's USSR. These people clutch their pearls about things like Ukraines far-right, pick on Western transgressions, yet completely ignore or give a pass to the often far more provocative and straight up diabolical transgressions that Russia has done in recent history. I consider myself part of this "left" and I think these people are either willfully ignorant or just grifting online. Nobody put a proverbial gun to any country to force them to join NATO, unlike the former Warsaw Pact.

Here's you.
You got a conflict with your neighbor.
Some US reporter does a 15minute "documentary" on the injustice your neighbor is suffering from your policies regarding your own space.
NATO sends you a letter of "surrender or get bombed".
NATO really just wants to flex and send their soldiers for some live-training and proceeds to bomb you with depleted uranium shells for 3 months straight all while spewing propaganda on how it was YOU who antagonized your neighbor to the point where the neighbor felt threatened and needed "some" help convincing you how YOUR ways regarding YOUR space is wrong.
NATO writes history about how they saved your neighbor and how you're trying to play the victim JUST because they HAD to bomb you for 3 months straight.
Turns out NATO isn't a country, NATO isn't even a nation or a government. NATO is in fact a war-company that holds zero accountability and responsibility for their actions and as such can never be fought against.
We had the Mongol Empire, the Roman Empire, the British Empire, the Russian Empire etc. NATO Is simple aspiring to go down as histories latest empire with one catch, they're really businessmen selling coups, military, weapons and more!
NATO is by far the worst creation in recent history since Nazi Germany.

@pwnd331
February 10, 2024 at 10:56 pm
"If you believe"? what the truth? you listed 3 ways the left feels about NATO that are straight facts.
1. they are led by the US in every imaginable way
2. literally invented to fight anything thats not capitalism
3. its the worlds largest military alliance, who like to expand, and like to send their military in 3rd party countries to help overthrow goverments or just after, so yeah it does cause tension
none of these are contentious
"if you truly believe" its
1. focused on security
2. protect countries
Yes also! these are facts too, but they do not superseed or negate everything you said before. also I do love a military that is "focused on security", surely it will always be focused and not be overly aggresive right?
@pwnd331

"arent the left in support of organizations that foster peace"??!!?! didnt NATO send their military to kill people in Libya? reasoning "crimes against humanity" ? Wow, yeah sounds like a solid legit reason. that the kind of reasoning for military involvement from a organization thats 100% about fostering peace and not just sending their military against any person they personally dislike. arent there crimes against humanity happening in the us or china? why doesnt nato go after them eh?

February 10, 2024 at 10:56 pm
All lies. NATO wasn't supposed to expand to eastern europe as we know the soviet union dissolved in 1991, therefore, NATO already served its purpose during the Cold War. NATO and Russia agreed that neither side would be the aggressor during the 1990s and beyond and that preserved some tranquility among nations at the time. Since 9/11 up to now…NATO has been the agreessor and warmonger toppling legitimate governments like in Iraq and in Libya under the pretext of spreading democracy worldwide. All this is a blatant lie, and furthermore NATO has harassed Russia for a long time in expanding into eastern Europe and also pressuring Ukraine to join NATO. Now the jig is up and most people with functioning neurons knows why Russia went to war in Ukraine simply because NATO started this conflict. Because NATO has destabilized the world and made it less secure and free, then it is warranted that NATO must be abolished permanently, and the member nations must abolish and dissolve the organization entirely!

February 10, 2024 at 10:56 pm
I don't understand how someone can say that the countries join NATO through the support of their population… Governments that join NATO are in best cases left center, and always pro capitalist. France, for example, left NATO in the 60s and then Sarkozy rejoined NATO without a referendum allegedly backed by the parliament. Swedish PM Magdalena Andersson also said recently that if they decide to join NATO there will be no referendum because the people are apparently unable to make such a decision because they don't know military secrets… I think that when people vote a government (which is usually between 50 and 60 percent of adults with voting rights in Europe…) even if the government gets a majority vote of 50+ percent which rarely happens, it still means that the governments are established with less than a third of adults with voting rights' support. That's highly undemocratic, and referendums are in my opinion extremely important in these cases, we have to stop treating citizens as ignorant herd that doesn't know what's good for it.

Democracy and Capitalism are opposites, you can't truly have both at the same time. Work under capitalism is slavery run by dictators called CEO's. You can't have democracy in such a system, the workers have no say unless capitalism is heavily regulated by socialist policies! Membership in these unions really need to stop focusing on gdp and instead focus on well being.

The problem i have with this podcast is that he rightly initially states « some people on the far left ». Then very quickly uses the left which gives the impression that left of centre european politics is by and large against nato. I also think that this hides an issue that i have with a lot of these individuals. I believe( no actual proof) the attitude the far left has is in no way an intellectual one its based on them historically aligning themselves with the soviet union ( 1980 s rose tinted glasses) and not looking at russia becoming a pure capitalist ( beyond anything in theUSA) and more recently a a post capitalist state with one man and his cronies owning the entire state( effectively going back to medieval royalist society) which i similarly view modern china to be.
