Bakhmut has little strategic relevance other than being a meat grinder of expendable humans.

    Tl:dr be like:
    -Russians can't take Bakhmut
-Russians takes Bakhmut (But Ukraine wins)
-Russians stand for Bakhmut, (but no problem Mykola, you have 1,5 wunderwaffe to win)
    You are here
-Russians takes a Kupyansk, and this is why Ukraine can win (maybe)
-The counter counteroffensive may save more lives in the trenches of Kyiv, because Polish government invaded Lviv

What a time to be alive

Bakhmut is not that important to Russia. They may leave that area least guarded giving Ukraine a place to go only to become a meat grinder.

Taking it is no real victory

I completely, 100% support Ukraine but why in the fuck are they wasting resources trying to retake this city so hard? Is it not rubble? Should they not be pressing towards Crimea? Maybe I am not understanding something.

  21. @maninredhelm

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

I think this is ultimately down to Bakhmut being the only Russian occupied territory in which the Russians didn't have time to build good defenses, making it the softest target available. Otherwise it would be a low priority.

  22. @Llkc60

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

this headline stinks of the operation itself being done for the media. Facts are that it is very hard to breakthrough defensive lines that have been fortified for a year. In some cases double or triple lines. Anti-tank obstacles, dug in trenches, anti-armor warfare positions. They can't get through with what they have so they don't…

and no, they won't retake bakhmut losses would be too high.

  23. @reynaldoniwane3668

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

It is not about wining anymore its about looking good so you can ask more money. Your war is now political business. Better have an election.

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

They haven't even made it to the first line of defense ffs

Only bakmut is with or near Ukraine reach

  26. @Webstral

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

Cluster munitions may play a useful role in killing Russian troops in their open-topped trenches, but only if the Russians have failed to create enough fighting positions with overhead cover. So far, the Russians appear to have done a good job of following their own doctrine; ergo, I'm going to say that these cluster munitions aren't intended for killing infantry in their fixed defenses. They may play a role in clearing lanes through minefields, but I'm on the fence about how reliably efficacious this might be. I think cluster munitions are aimed at two critical targets. The first is the defender's artillery. Counterbattery fire has assumed a ranking priority in Ukrainian probing operations. Cluster munitions will make CB fire considerably more effective. If the Ukrainians are shifting back to probing operations, this suggests to me that they are looking to create opportunities to destroy more of Russia's defensive indirect firepower before attempting a multi-point breakthrough. The other main target for cluster munitions will be Russian reserves moving forward in response to Ukrainian progress against the defensive line. With the US providing RT intel, the Ukrainians will enjoy excellent opportunities to strike Russian reserves and resupply efforts moving forward.

  30. @andyduhamel1925

UA would be wise and Im sure they will have learned the costs paid by Wagner, and use NATO doctrine on troop atriton, not to engge in costly urban warfare and surround the ciyt and choke off supply routes entirely.

Bakhmut was relevant to Wagner output. In Bakhmuts current degraded state Ukraine will naturally not lose focus and life onto meat grinding games. They have to and will think bigger. Let them play their game.

These guys are genuinely hilarious , didnt Ukraine and the Media say months ago around bakhmut tht an attritional battle favors russia because they are a bigger force/population w more sustainable military industry than ukraine and that Ukraine needs a QUICK AND DECISIVE VICTORY to be able to defeat russia??? Or is tht just me lol. Now they are switching to an "attritional style offensive" to gain ground. Genuine comedy.

  39. @Archangel657

So the long awaited "counter offensive" was a complete and utter failure?

  40. @hatchxable

    NO!

  41. @MathijsHeideveld86

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

What do you mean "Finally"? Ukraine depends on weapons provided by the west. Why not report on all the lacking deliveries from the west instead of criticizing Ukraine… Combined arms only works with air superiority, but we the west failed to provide that… This is our shortcoming, not Ukraines.

  42. @ammarhaziq919

What advances in the Bakhmut area? The Russians are capturing 10x more land daily than Ukrainians

  45. @OpTiCNoobtube

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

Tired of all the war propaganda being thrown at us. I don’t care about some backwater just as most of you don’t care about other backwaters in the world

  46. @Markomilic205

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

1:44 the attack of the bridge did not affect Russian logistic capabilities because the railway wasn't attacked.

  47. @Markomilic205

    February 10, 2024 at 2:19 pm

00:17 How does the move to attritional warfare make sense for Ukraine? Are you an idiot?
