While I appreciate that this channel avoids sensationalising and politicising these issues like DW does, it really needs to proofread & check its graphics on German topics. These frequent errors like "Saxony-Anholt" or referring to the wrong federal state distract from the information and the credibility of the content.

Because the left wing are a disaster

  13. @dirgsuite5546

    February 10, 2024 at 1:17 pm

Why has the right wing afd become so popular? Because German leaders denied German cities and industries affordable energy. They prioritized Ukrainian proxy war over taking care of their citizens. It is a perfect recipe to empower extreme right.

  14. @komischneee8238

    February 10, 2024 at 1:17 pm

Well the AFD has only gotten popular because the other parties suck and prioritize migrants over the actual German people

    February 10, 2024 at 1:17 pm

Hello my fellow german AFD patriots, we stand with you here in the states, against the destruction of your beutiful homeland, from both bad policies and loss of cultural identity. I, as a member of the U.S. conservative (republican) party, have indured verbal insults and cast aspersions for my beliefs for years, as it is standard practice of the (socialist) Democrat party as well as most of our media outlets, trying to use shamming tactics, using words like racist, far right, Oh, and of course "MAGA" is the latest. We as conservatives know who we are, and its not racist, neither far right, but they do have us on MAGA, but,we are prowd that. So, when labels are used, remember who you are, and that they are scarred, scarred of contrast and better policies, policies that will ultimatly change other minds to your way of thinking and thats thier ultimate fear. Remember, the word extremist loses its power the more its cast upon you, So were their insults like a badge of honor….

  18. @dlyrious13

    February 10, 2024 at 1:17 pm

One thing to remember is that the right wing of politics is a completely legitimate part of the political spectrum and NOT extremist. There cannot be a left without a right and vice versa. In the past, most parties have leaned so far left, that a part of our identity was missing. The conservative side. This balance is needed and is being restored at this moment. This is a good thing.
Most media try to immediately lean towards claiming this to be Nationalsocialism (Nazis) but its not. At least not at the approximately 30% population currently in favor of the new party.
In general, there is traces of old ideologies in each and every party, e.g. the CDU/CSU as well. These people are not in leading positions and wont dictate direction in any case, neither in the AFD nor in CDU or SPD.

Our current government was elected despite being unqualified AND with legal cases against them. This is something completely unfathomable which can only be explained with massive amounts of dumbing down the population as well as migrants with voting rights hoping to keep the borders open for further migration of like minded people until a tipping point was reached which prevents this to be reversed. Here is where the migration problem unfolds!
We have already seen where this will lead with massive amounts of migrants calling out for a Sharia law based Khalifat needed in Germany.
Interestingly this is the exact opposite of the lefts agenda meaning they are being used to establish a political force entirely outside the german political spectrum which is entirely based on religious ideas, something western societies have moved on from long ago. This is dangerous and needs to be stopped.

Like most left agendas going full circle this will also come back to haunt them at some point. (e.g. womens rights and benefits being contradicted by trans rights and benefits which effectively can lower the female quotes and lead to men in womens clothes again dominating natural women).
In this case it will leave a lasting effect that is undesirable.

I have a migration background and I am a member of the AfD. My parents came from Eastern Europe and built up their life in Germany, all by themselves. Me and my sister went to school and now I am in nursing-education while my sister is in becoming a physiotherapist.
We do NOT want to pay for the illegal bad behaving muslims.
And the AfD does not hate all non-ethnicallly Germans. In my city there are a few Chinese-origin German citizens members of the party and everything is great. They also saw the problem with the muslim immigration.

the AfD is a very well named party. The name doesn't tie it to any specific political position, so it has flexibility in its platform. The word "Alternative" does suggest to voters they are the party to look to when unhappy with the status quo.

The neo-fascist push is driven by the Putin-loving, German-speaking Russians from the former Sovjet sattelite 'GDR'. It is a failure of the GFR to properly re-integrate the Eastern states into a democratic system.

  31. @franktielemans6624

    February 10, 2024 at 1:17 pm

In uncertain times fascism flourishes, in the 1930's the trigger was the 1929 Wall Street crash that brought the fascists to power. Before 1929 the nazi party only got 2.3% of the votes. After blue monday thay got 37%. People became uncertain about the future, the nazi's cultivates their fears, identify scapegoats (minorities offcourse) and present themselves as the only ones who can fix all their problems. It is also no coincidence that LGBTQ and "woke" is being demonized now. Exactly the same thing happened 90 years ago. First we had the roaring twenties with free expression especially in Berlin… and then the Nazis came.

Exactly the same thing happens now.
Replace Blue Monday with the Covid crisis and the war in Ukraine and you create the perfect breeding ground for extremists. The only difference is that Goebels had to use the radio and the podium, nowadays fascists can spread hate propaganda at light speed via social media and spreading conspiracies en lies was easier than ever before. Truth doesn't even matter anymore. We live in the post-truth era that someone like Tymothy Snyder already warned us about in early 2017.

Anyway, as a European I know when German fascism gain popularity it is time to arm yourself once again and that's exactly what I and my family did almost a year ago.
