CORRECTIONS:
There are a number of mistakes in this video:
At 0:09, the map of Schengen area doesn't include Croatia
At 0:21, we use the Icelandic flag instead of the Norwegian flag
At 1:08, the animation dates the Treaty of Rome as 2021, but the narration (correctly) states 1957
At 5:10, we use the Slovakian flag for Slovenia
These are both appallingly sloppy and unacceptably frequent – we can only apologise. If you'd like to know more about our editorial process, and what we're doing to reduce our error rate, we've made a video on it over at TLDR Podcasts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2YICfgUET0 (specific discussion on animation errors starts at 2:35 – somewhat embarrassingly, we claim that animation-related errors have been "weeded out", when clearly that's not true). Again, we can only apologise, and hopefully you still enjoyed the video.

So if EU border control is the reason to blackmail Bulgaria and Romania for 10+ years (Romania barely having anything to do with problematic EU borders), then should Italy, Spain and Greece be also concerned of Austria demanding their exclusion from Schengen? Considering they are also struggling under the illegal immigration push and are unarguably the entry point to EU for far many more migrants than Bulgaria due to being FAR bigger external EU borders.

Schengen agreement is not for free movement, but for free travel.
No more checks at borders – that hardly existed between many of the Schengen area countries even well before the Schengen agreement.
An important improvement also for visitors required to have visa for visiting Schengen countries and foreign residents in one of the Schengen countries that needed visa for other Schengen countries. Swiss residents with Ukrainian passport for example needed a visa for visiting Germany before Switzerland joined Schengen.
By the way: customs checks are still possible not only at the border, but a wide border area and police checks almost everywhere.

You know why? Taking on immigrants who donโt want to integrate, who donโt want to work and rely solely on welfare, and whoโs only interest is creating kids, establishing mosques, creating crime like rape, theft and murder and spreading their ideology of hate. Racist? No! But itโs the truth. We need to address the elephant of the room.

February 13, 2024 at 6:26 pm
Let's get real! It's a racist thing. That is why Karner came up with those three "conditions", the 3rd of which reads as: "Illegal migrants, especially Afghan and Syrians should be TRANSFERRED to Bulgaria and Romania by any means necessary, busses, TRAINS "
Perhaps you will remember the last time when "undesirables" had been transferred on the railways, one-way trip towards places where arbeit macht frei.

Most big unities of multicultural sooner or later fell in history, even if they lived peacefully a few centuries. The key is national pride, if you do not have it, you do not really have bindings which keeps them together and they can leave any time. So usual small independant countries have stronger bindings than big units of people without a common national pride. The only big unity of multiple cultures which last long was China, because they assimilated other cultures into theirs and set a national goal and thinking where people feel the need to be united.

When in the history of the world immigration has been solved and how? there is only one answer North Corea did it, they have 0 immigration๐๐ so EU should look up to Kim dinasty for solutions. The point of Austria is wrong they can't stop it, slow it or make it dissapear, not by borders, walls or blocking those countries acceding schengen. In fact they should be grateful and help immigrants to adapt integrate and settle there with their aging population, and birth rate….

The Austrian argument is something like this : I stay in a 5 Star Hotel, I am not satisfied with the services in this hotel, so I would not be allowing anyone else to come in and stay in this hotel, although I myself wouldn't be checking out from the hotel. There is absolutely no doubt that Austria has racist motivations behind the blocking but at the same time the EU is also to be held responsible. If one person can block an entire so called Union proud of its anthem, a Parliament and the "almighty" Commission, the word "Union" in the EU has the same value as the word "United" in the United Nations.
@val-schaeffer1117
February 13, 2024 at 6:26 pm
One needs to mention here, that EU (Schengen being a part of it) are free movement of resources masquerading as free movement of people. It allows a German or Dutch employer to benefit from wage suppression (which can well be done by local at higher wages), but at the same time does not guarantee any form of equal opportunity across EU(often under pretext of language barrier), meaning falsely claimed "skill shortage" in northern Europe coincides with high graduate unemployment in Mediterranean. Instead they would prefer "onsite" workers from India whose desperation for EU passport can be abused for a decade. Half of German labour market is filled by apprentices working at rock bottom wages, with addtional benefit of low exit opportunity because they are one-trick pony. All forms of discrimination and favouritism are labelled as "discretion" in free market. Graduates from TU Madrid and TU Munich are never given any level playing meritocratic platform, although de-jure they entitled to equal opportunity (de-facto not so much).
Effectively, EU is a freewheeling neoliberal machine, which is bound to hit the buffer in near future.

What defines "temporary"? In human governance, that would be linked to the length of office of a particular governments' leadership.
So, in the case of America, when the government is politically divided and essentially dysfunctional except for rare instances of truly extreme events like financial melt downs or pandemics, temporary measures are typified by Executive Orders issued by our President, that carry the force of law without Congressional approval and can be modified or eliminated entirely after the installation of a new President.

i was born in 1989 the year that the wall fall but now I'm losing faith in the EU. Portuguese by birth, i have saw the industries we had been destroyed with help from EU, see the farmers not cultivating the land or not producing has much has they could due to EU intervention so much that some are paid not to produce… Fishing is also a mess we need to control the Galisians since well they have already clean most of spanish water a need a place to go. Them we Portugal and Spain have an agreement about water management due to most of our rivers starting in Spain and that they need to give us 20% of the annual flow of the river but they do this with malice since every time they give the agree upon quota is all at once like a flash flood so yeah to avoid issues it ends on the fking ocean. Also have 0 issues of immigration if weren't for the fking people we receive from EU country's that avoid our tax system and pay there taxes on there country but life here. So yeah European dream is a lie since you need to be asleep to believe it .
