There's a reason boomers were well booming. A historic rise in economic conditions for most people.

Pro family policies are good. but families are not the ones not having babies. Its normal people without an existing family. You can either make people go back to the middle ages and have 10 babies to work the farm or progress and allow people to feel economically secure and allow them the peace of mind to even think about having children. Also where in the shoebox apartment that I pay an arm and a leg for should I rase the kid?

  5. @SpottedHares

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

How do they expect people to have families when your entire country is built around extracting as much activity as possible to prop up the precious economy?

  6. @rrickarr

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

So what are you doing about it M. Macron?????? How on earth are people to pay to raise a family! And guess who is having all the children—the immigrants, Muslims – because they believe in the traditional family structure. Feminism has gotten you where you are!

The other reason France had a higher birth rate than the rest of Europe, is because their houses are physically larger than most European houses. They are much closer to house sizes that you might find in the United States or Australia.

  9. @JoshAston23

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

Yes because this will really help when the global population has doubled in 50 years and multipllied by 8 in 200 years. Supply and demand of housing, food, resources to live, hell even money distribution – are all goong to continue getting worse. It's irreversible at this stage.

  10. @reececollison5101

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

I’m never having children and it’s very simple why. Too expensive, too much responsibility, and I have a high quality of life and money without them. I’m not prepared to give that up 😀

  11. @redpillmastertn9209

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

As long as the Western culture still forces feminist ideas and women in the workforce there will be no solution to the population decline. The cost of living don't play any role. Most of African countries have high fertility rates even though they're poor…

Having one cousin who had just gave birth and my sister pregnant in France, money is not even the first issue so much for having a newborn. Usually the two parents are working, so when you have a baby what do you do with him? you try to put in a childcare, which are very very hard to get, most of them have a year of wait before you can enroll your kid in it. So the second solution, is a nanny, which is less flexible and way more costly.
Most of the problem are practical.

And a decade ago people were making fun of Erdogan for asking people to have at least 3 kids 😂 I guess we must give it to him, he had some foresight, though for wrong reasons.

  19. @samobispo1527

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

Give young people better salaries and less expensive homes to get them to start families? Like, the way things were in the 1960s? What a radical concept!

  20. @digitalatom6433

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

So a better child benefit policy would be:
You apply to get a family home with enough space to house a big family which was funded and built by the government. The government initially backs up the capital required to buy the house for you. For every child you get, 15% of the mortgage is paid for by the government, resulting in lower monthly costs on it for you, which should work out to indirectly pay for what the child costs to raise, but you slap on some 200 euros a month on top for good measure. And if you get 7 kids, (you madman) all the money you paid for the mortgage in the meantime is refunded to you.
Additionally, over at the workplace, your employer will be required to give you a small raise for every child you get, which is tax-free. For every one that you get, you also get an additional month of paid leave every year, which stacks. You can opt to also work fewer hours instead for the same pay, the math on that will be a bit complex. Also maternity leave for women is 18 months, but if she is married, she can arrange for her husband to take the leave or part of it instead if she so desires. (I hope that doesn't get too controversial). And you can get a tax break on baby-related products for the first child. (best way to prove it is to bring your child to the supermarket or show the pregnant belly, but I suppose some form of legal ID or a special card would have to be made for that to work. Either that or you just keep your books well and just communicate what you spent with your local tax agency.)

    What do you all think?

  21. @JoaoSoares-rs6ec

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

Several countries are facing that same problem, a shrinking population.

  22. @BoatengDerrickGyimah

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

I know as someone from the global south ,that what European faces when it comes to childbirth goes beyond the usual complaint of increasing the materialistic status of people .since there are people who have less materialism but produce more children .And I am not talking about people who are not educated but stuff like religion ,pride for one ethnicity or nation plays vital importance in wanting to continue your ancestral legacy .something Europe has lost since its decline in religion, national and ethnic pride

  23. @MsMorganVEVO

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

If governments have no intention of solving the housing crisis, then the only way they’d get these population needs met is if we all just drastically lowered our living standards for children- which I don’t think is likely or desirable. 😕

  24. @josepedrosantiagosilva9625

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

At last, a well-founded conclusion pointing in the right direction.

  25. @guyayissi1375

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

Let him start by having babies with his current wife. Aren't they young?

    اللاأنجابية شيء جميل

  27. @pjpcarv

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

That one line at the end…. "incresing wages and bringing down housing costs." People start families when they can afford a home for their family. Oherwise, they just work and live with their parents, working for cheap and not having their own families and that results in no children. You guys could have spent an extra minute or two detailing this bit as it is probably the biggest factor holding back fertility in so-called developped countries.

  28. @dimamatat5548

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

I keep repeating. Just automate. Robots will take away jobs, meaning that it makes no sense to add new humans. Why do you ignore that and keep complaining that we lack humans workers?

This is true. Nobody who struggles with rent groceries for 1 would even consider trying to care for even more.
The rents and groceries and basic living cosy have to be sustainable. If not its all talk.

  42. @whlawson5812

    February 13, 2024 at 9:37 pm

Not having more babies is important if 20% of the fathers named on the birth are not the bio fathers. Also paternity test is made illegal but paternity fraud is not a crime. Yes, no?.
