Switzerland is about the most neutral country in the world, choosing not to take a side in either world war… or any other conflict for that matter. However, opinion in Switzerland is shifting, and it seems that Putin may be forcing them to pick a side

I stopped watching this crap of a video from the first moments when it became clear that you did not know Swiss neutrality began as an aftermath of the Battle of Marignano in 1515 and was later implicitly acknowledged in the Peace of Westfalia.

Because Putin putting pressure on neutral countries has worked so well so far

  3. @tufstuff2586

Its actually very smart but Switzerland because if NATO ever goes downhill in the future or something bad happens they can steer away from it without taking the blow like Germany the USA or France. Also Russia invading Ukraine isn't a shocker really they did it before with the same plan after the Russian Empire collapsed like the USSR did anyone not catch that?

  4. @eltinjones4542

Switzerland as usual applies logic to the situation. Their neutrality takes in to account democracy!

Well, Hitler didn't. I know politicians are generally more emotional and less generally capable today, but I do believe Switzerland still has it in it to not let this conflict affect its tradition of neutrality, no matter how much peer pressure exists. The Swiss leaving their neutral position wouldn't do anything for Ukraine, really, it's just a goal of non-neutral nations to try to get them to leave neutrality so they can look like they've done something for their own people, take Britain or Poland. They want to be the one who can say 'I made the Swiss take our side' no matter what the consequences or usefulness to Ukraine/Switzerland.

The Swiss loves that Russian gold too much. They loved the nazis and they love putin. All they do is store and funnel dirty money

  9. @gregash7683

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Switzerland's perpetual "military" neutrality (forget some compromises with the Nazi's in Russia during WW2) has been their breastplate of righteousness since 1815. But, if a country becomes the haven for laundering stolen gold and art or a safe passage for war criminals, does that assure immunity as well as neutrality for the Confederation? Put diplomatic theatrics aside, dirty hands are dirty hands. When financial transactions bypass the SWIFT system and ooze in the form of Swiss francs to buy sanctioned products and services, does sweet Switzerland get a free pass with blind eyes? In legal language, this activity is called: an "accessory to a crime" where so-called innocents play a benign part in criminal activities. Does the Swiss system fit this profile?

I don't think anyone should fuck with the inventors of the Suisse knife.

  11. @nikolaivanov7400

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Correction EU NATO and the USA are forcing us to take a side, Putin did none of this except act recklessly, y’all took our neutrality.

  12. @Darkstar-qb3dh

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

I think that’s the best way for the Swiss to help without abandoning their neutrality, by sending aid they can take a stand agains unwarranted aggression and invasion but not actually add to military action

  13. @JuanGarcia-tg4od

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Anyone or anything or any country that forever remains neutral is ultimately going to find itself very lonely. Think of anyone you know that never picks a side. Nobody trusts or likes these types. I don’t hear anyone saying how much they love the Swiss.

  14. @777gpower

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Switzerland and Austria are de facto protected by NATO given they are surrounded entirely by NATO. For Russia, or any foreign, non-NATO country to invade it would need to use NATO airspace- something NATO is not likely to give.

  15. @Lemonz1989

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Not acting at all is also taking sides. It’s also understandable not sending soldier.
However, Switzerland has chosen sides, and by also choosing not to send arms “during an active military conflict”, and only in peacetime for defense, to someone you think is in the right also weakens your moral high ground. Sending humanitarian aid is all well and good, but that only goes so far in helping someone win a defensive war.

  16. @itzcoatl1180

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Oh but not with the Nazis? Because they care sooo much about people💀

  17. @davidmcintyre8145

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

We must remember that at the heart of Swiss neutrality lies one simple fact. Neutrality was forced on the Swiss as a result of them being too good at war in the 15th and 16th centuries. Even today the Pope is guarded by Swiss guards

  18. @susannamarker2582

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Austria is nearer to Russia than Switzerland is, and Austria is not even talking about this. Seems to me that TLDR news EU (the clue is in their name) is creating an unnecessary narrative.

  19. @susannamarker2582

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

Even today, Switzerland is surrounded by the Axis Powers. Today, Germany, Italy, and Vichy France are called the EU. Stay neutral, Switzerland. Keep away from strange centralised european projects.

  20. @ems4884

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

The swiss will always do whatever they need to you guard their wealth.

  21. @MrAndrew941

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

The Republic of Ireland literally has nothing to bring to NATO if they ever apply it should just be refused on that ground.

  22. @theuncomfortabletruth8348

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

The Nazis killed 6 million Jews during ww2 and yet Switzerland can remain neutral. Switzerland has become a joke.

  23. @Ravelcs

    February 18, 2024 at 9:20 am

If Switzerland wants to be neutral, it should leave the European Free Trade Association. Neutrality is just a lofty name for impotence.

  24. @hanjianwar7189

    🤔

  25. @edwardsedwards796

Switzerland has become corrupted. Even the votations are rigged.

  26. @johnmachenzie1613

Nonetheless Switzerland reputation of a neutral country has been damaged, we truly are living in a new era.
