Actually no, invasion is part of putins playbook. But unlike what people assume it not a war of conquest. To understand what putins (original) goal in ukraine is one must look at his invasion of georgia in 2008. All that happened in the end was that georgias seperatist regions gained de-facto independence.
The only way for this war to end with both sides somewhat happy would be if ukraine gurantees the autonomy of the donbass and russia gets to keep crimea, or at least the sewastopol port (in which case crimea would also have to be autonomous). Only then would putin be willing to pull out his troops.

Russian here. Good review, but there's one critical mistake in it. Don't try to look for a Putin's ideology or values, they don't exist, and your review is a perfect proof. He's an ex-KGB agent, professional liar and hypocrite. He will say anything what will help him centralize power and money even more, he can even turn into a mainstream European liberal if needs. He has no values, only wish for power and money.

In spite of all horrible and all criminal acts Turkey committs unceasingly NATO excuses says it can't expel it because has no mechanism to expel. IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE LIE and Fake to Public Prpapganda. REASONS : 1) Even brothels has laws to expel whoever need to, 2) Even if supposing NATO really don't has, it can and should create, as any rule, can always be created and cancel when urges. Because, other wise if members know they can't be expelled, then, why damned they should be desciplined especially when their own interest oppose being so. That is, it become an invitation for a TOTAL MESS. Logically, each member will has full incentive/reasons to follow only his own rules. 3) SO, yes or no, it is false/propaganda say we can't expel Turkey do what barbarities it do. The true reason, not ONLY because NATO is criminal capitalist wars and conflicts and instability creator for arm sell of industrial arms, but, because any possible inconvenience with Turkey, is easy to resolve PAYING IT/THE BILL AT THE COST OF KURDS. Puting their liberation movement/PKK in their political damned Terrorist lists, no matter NATO is the first terroist of the world and only advanced by it's member Turkey. So, NATO keeps the conveniences of such marriage with Turkey and KURDS PAY THE INCONVENIENCES. Their final agreement over Finland and Sweeden at the cost of Kurds and the illegal capture of Abdula Okalan, are only a small examples of using Kurds as the cheap/costless currency to resettle their differences and keep their party music runnig.

Two issues – Censorship and autocracy are not the same thing. You can have censorship and a democracy, autocracy and complete free speech. Germany has a functioning democracy, but has a high degree of censorship, same with Australia. Also, the people still have the capacity to vote out their leaders. It may be difficult, but it is possible. Many people don't understand that the average Russian supports Putin – maybe not in reflection to his actual poll results – but look at independent polling, they do support him as a majority. This particular TLDR News guy, I don't know if he writes his own videos, but he usually mixes a fair amount of speculation at best, and bullshit at worst. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe it's something to do with the EU channel, idk.

The Kremlin would like nothing more than all westerners to hate all Russians because that maintains status quo and their position…this is not the cold war anymore (Putin just wants it to be)! Not all Russians are our enemy, but their kleptocratic leadership sure is! Anyone can help from their home! Create a profile on VK (Russia's equivalent of FB). Start adding people. Post legitimate links and articles from Reddit or YT. Start engaging the average Russian (there are PLENTY of Russians on VK that are willing to engage). Yes, you'll get flack from some, but A LOT are completely against the war. I've already made friends and hope that either they can visit me or I can visit them one day. The average person in the West needs to communicate with the average Russian, WAKE THEM UP! Their state media LIES to them and unfortunately a lot of them are apathetic or willfully blind and ignorant to reality. Engage the ones 'on the fence', don't waste your time with those that drink Putin's piss. Use google translate if you don't know cyrillic. Russia needs a regime change.

The whole west hates Putin, but the truth is, Putin is Russia's best president, even taking into account the recent conflicts,
and it's sick how the west are trying to impose their own beliefs or agenda going more and more east, that's what sparked this whole "war". It's a slow process of expanding NATO more and more closer to Russia and we've reached a point where NATO forces are literally bordering Russia, Putin himself said this in an interview from 2021, and asking "What if Russia put near by military bases near the US" for example, that would be immediately seen as "extreme" I would assume, but when the west is doing the same shit to Russia it's ok?? Bullshit.

UKRAINE & RUUSSIA AT WAR 2022 !!
War I hate, though not men, flags nor race
But war itself with its ugly face.
When we lose faith in the brave, which die
Then we're not fit to greet those who cry.
What distinguishes war isn't death
But that man is slain by fellow man.
Crushed by cruelty and injustice
With his enemy's murderous hand.
War tends to punish the punishers
So the losers won't suffer alone.
The essence of war is but violence
Till the survivors come marching home.
It’s not a priest that gives us our freedom of religion
It’s not a reporter that gives us our freedom of voice.
It’s not any judge, lawyer, politician, preacher or teacher
But the blood of a soldier that has sacrificed by choice.
