Over the last few months, Europe has quickly learned that it’s dangerously reliant on Russian gas. Three pipelines could relieve this strain though, bringing gas in from across the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa… but will they happen?

CORRECTION: At 2:57, we say that TurkStream was originally commissioned as Blue Stream. This isn't quite correct: TurkStream is actually a replacement for Blue Stream 2, first suggested up by Putin in 2009. Blue Stream was the first Russia-Turkey gas pipeline, which began pumping gas in 2005. Blue Stream 2, which would have run parallel to Blue Stream, was proposed by Putin in 2009, but it never took off. Blue Stream 2 was replaced by South Stream, which was in turn replaced by TurkStream after it was cancelled by the Russian government in 2014.

Europe will be supplied with gas from Iran. Biden administration has given Iran $10 billion of humanitarian aid (gas rights) to supply Europe.

The pipeline from Kazakhstan is sneaky way for Europe to try to extend its influence into Central Asia.

  8. @MrAmhara

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

You mean Egypt to Europe. Not Israel to Europe. Israeli gas would be shipped to Egypt then onwards to Europe.

This is the main reason why Negeria is dragging ECOWAS to a war in Niger.

Fact Check: Russia never used Gas as a geopolitical weapon. Russia simply required the EU to pay it in Roubles as a direct (and logical!) response to EU sanctions on Russia and the EU freezing all Russia central bank assets in overseas accounts: things they never did when the US waged 4 illegal wars of imperial aggression between 2001 and 2021. Moreover, in addition to the other breaches of contract against it, Russia has been the victim of EU gas weaponization vía the price cap laws that the EU foisted on Russia. No one is excusing the invasion of Ukraine, just as no one – except the EU – is excusing the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. Just please try to overcome your allergy to basic research and facticity prior to posting videos.

How is this saving Europe, you're just shifting one asshole out with several others.
Only through true energy independence will we save this great continent of ours.
Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece all have vastly untapped resources.

Romania is talking with Georgia about many projects over the black sea, I think EU must talk with Georgia and maybe finance black sea pipeline and connect with Azerbaijan without Turkey. Nobody knows what Erdogan will do and demand, Georgia on the other hand wants to be part of the EU and they can increase their geopolitical price. If Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan can negotiate with Georgia and Azerbaijan, we can completely replace Russia, by strengthening countries that Russia always punished and oppressed. Also, Kazakhstan will be under China if not Russia and by buying resources from them we can at least partially sponsor their true sovereignty to counter both Russian and Chinese influence.

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

then why EU put sanction on russia when hey are using money as a weapon to counter russia why cant russia use its fuel as weapon. Plus why uk blew up the nord stream pipeline becuase USA did not want EUto negosiate with russia for oil instead buy expensive oil from USA and EU fell in US's trap now its suffering.

  19. @CommonSenseBeatsIntelligence

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

EU sanctioned themselves, until a few days ago Russia never threatened to not sell.
    Russia never refused anyone gas.
UK blew up the pipeline to slap the EU in the face and jump stock values.

  20. @SA-gf3th

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

Idk why Europe chose gas over oil when oil has much greater independent source and much better logistics and safety .

  21. @S.L.S-407

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

Russia has been an enemy for how long, yet Europe thought it would be a good idea to get their gas from Russia ? That makes as much sense as getting gas from Islamic countries ! Don't these fools ever learn ?

  26. @YunaOnHome

    February 20, 2024 at 8:52 pm

Continental Europe has a lot of oil it’s just not has densely located. However there are potential new oil fields in the far north of Norway and between Iceland and Greenland that could surpass all of them and now the ice sheets are melting it just needs a drive to allow regulation to be lifted.

Just as the US played whacka mole with Nordstream pipelines, Russia can play the same game with all the other pipelines going into Europe.

Common European energy policy even from the 90s was aiming to connect northern Europe with Eastern Europe Gas reserves so or the mind and Stay inside the European economy this will happen now even by Force apparently
