French here, i don't know in which way we are doing better but the electricity bills have gone up by 22% in just 1 month, rent has gone up, it's nearly impossible to afford a house if you dont earn at least 5k/month and the cost of food have skyrocketted (+ the concept of shrinkflation – example: you pay less of a product but 10% more expensive). So yeah i see lot of engineers (my field of work) and doctors just going in different countries after their studies just to be able to own a house and spend less than 70% of their income just to stay alive.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

France has a huge public debt of 113%/GDP (Germany 69%) although it is exploiting colonies all over the world and has drained neighbouring Belgium through Sabena/AirFrance, Fortis/BNP, Electrabel/Engie, Dexia/Crédit Local de France … (hundreds of billions).

This is an unusually perceptive and well-balanced video. In a nutshell, France has managed to suppress its headline inflation rate and boost its economic growth by borrowing more than most of its neighbors (most notably the UK). But there is a price to be paid for this. French government debt has now exceeded 116% of GDP, well above that of the UK (89% of GDP), and this will inevitably mean that France will experience higher borrowing costs and slower growth in the future. In fact, there's a credible argument that most of France's economic growth over the last decade can be attributed to unsustainable government borrowing rather than any genuine improvement in performance – much as was the case with the UK between 2000 and 2010.

  20. @miniterrarian

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

As someone who lives in Estonia most people spend most of their money on rent and food as the average wage statistic is very skewed as the government workers make roughly 6 times more than average worker and as such the national average sits at a nice 1200 euros give or take a bit. In actuality most people make around 600-800 before taxes. Considering average rent was between 300-450 before inflation and now has sky rocketed means that people have pretty much no free capital as seen by the fact that shops of all kinds are completely devoid of people. I've travel Europe before the inflation got bad and it was still far more expensive in Estonia, and recently when traveling through Europe have seen these divides getting bigger, Estonian businesses have always artificial pumped prices up. The Estonian prime minister hold large amount of equity in the energy sector and thus is pumping up the price and has even told people if they can't afford electricity to store food outside in the winter.

The power of government controlled energy

  28. @kyouma4052

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

In fact nuclear energy in France is in a bad shape because for consumer the price of electricity is based on gas price so people pay 10 times more due to russian conflict even if they used nuclear energy and in France edf gets only the money of the cost of producting electricity (price of combustible) and not for all the security step and all
So nuclear is in a good way but EDF the french entreprise is in a very bad situation
For people in France inflation hit hard the stat used is done on 2-3k by month salary for people with medium salary its really a pain in the ass

  29. @sturmhorst5819

    One word nuclear.

  32. @drmdmd1

Everything was already over priced in France that’s why

  33. @ionutturcutvoda3545

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

France may have a low inflation on paper but living in France is very expensive, you barely get by with a little over 2000 euros a month salary. So i don`t know who created those statistics, but they don`t match with real life. And especially now that all the prices are going up.

  34. @RaphaelLehoux

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

Mostly because we used completely broken metrics to measure inflation

  35. @jeromedelabrosse119

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

wow we only have 6% inflation i should hurry and tell that to the grocery store i think they didnt get the memo.
on another note i think it mostly have to do with the temporary reduction on oil price from the government

  36. @harukrentz435

Just book ticket to southeast asia this winter, it's cheaper than paying the energy bills.

  41. @Pax_Veritas

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

Quelle surprise! It took you just over 10 minutes to say, "France gets 75% of its energy from nuclear energy"

  42. @levoyageur9981

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

One thing to note though regarding nationalization of EDF. It used to be a public company, and in 2010, our worst president ever (Sarkozy) decided that 25% of its production had to be sold to private companies, at the lowest price possible. These companies made billions, buying cheap and selling higher, being competitive with EDF itself. Except that EDF had to pay the high cost of maintenance when these companies' only expenditures were mostly marketing…henceforth, EDF lost clients who left for cheaper prices, 25% of its production didnt bring any benefit and so, for the past 10 years, EDF lost billions of euros…and France couldnt let it sink, which is why they bought it back, full of debts…
Macron also was responsible for closing nuclear plants and wanted to shut down nuclear plants.
Im all for Green energy but for me, we shouldnt have shut down any nuclear plant UNTIL we had a fully fonctional green energy grid that could bring 50% or more of our needs. THEN we can think of closing nuclear plants…

pls stop conflating EU-Zone with Europe. France does not best in Europe, only in the EU-Zone. there are european countries doing better than France.

  48. @m.lievre4888

    February 21, 2024 at 7:19 pm

as a french, energy is going so up we cound'nt think it was possible the Megawatt price would go 35% more expensive because of business competition and politic actions suchgoing for "renuevable and eco friendly" energies. also up to 50 % of our nuclear plants are currentle closed for maintenance until dawn of next year ..
