Sounds like no deal is a better option in order to make the competition unfair. After all UK is now an enemy of EU and vice versa. Enemies needs to fight.

EU warned – if we can’t keep taking ur fish, we will close your borders. UK imports 25% of all foodstuff from EU. No fish- no food ! Enjoy starvation in England.

Great no deal, free independent Great Britain. Our laws, our fish and we can compete with trade. New year we can chat if the EU wants to agree to our terms or WTO

Hopefully there will not be a deal because it seems like some want their cake and eat it when it comes to fish in our sovereign waters 🤔

The Germans don't give the Engish free cars, the French don't give the Engish free wine why would the UK give the EU free fish?

    March 21, 2024 at 2:16 pm

Boris and the British wealthy don'twant any deals ! they want chaos to make money!

  12. @grousetheghoul2754

    March 21, 2024 at 2:16 pm

The UK has replaced the trade with the EU. The EU is too arrogant to notice that.

The report fails to recognise political realities in the UK which dictate how far Boris can breach his red lines and therefore commit political suicide.
If the deal can be denounced by Nigel Farage, the ERG and Lawyers for Britain as BRINO then Boris will lose the votes of the Red Wall, all those who voted UKIP (4.1 million) in 2015 and many Conservative votes to Nigel Farage and his party. Recall that the Brexit party withdrew its candidates at the 2019 election to give the Conservatives a clear run at Brexit. 30% of Labour voters voted Leave in the referendum and their votes would also be up for grabs by Farage. So the most likely outcome of the next election would be a coalition which Farage would be a part of. His price for supporting the Conservatives could be himself as Minister for Europe renegotiating or withdrawing from any agreement. There was no mention of the fact that a referendum and two elections have resulted in a Leave vote.
Unless Brussels recognises this reality we are headed for a WTO exit. Otherwise they risk holding the same arguments with Farage in less then four years time.

What a pity Boris didn't walk away to start with and then start negotiations. Yet another deadline, words fail me!

Brussels is trying to control UK because EU subservient states are terrified of fair competition

The UK's standards are already far higher than the EU's. The so called "Level Playing Field" is about controlling the UK.
