I’m Economically Centre Left and Socially Right wing. I would prefer National Rally or Reconquest, but between Renaissance and
New Ecologic & Social People's Union, I’d rather have New Ecologic and Social People's Union. The Left and Right need to put their differences aside and get rid of centrism and the Liberal Elite.

Much better research this time around, thank you (though the PCF is certainly not "far left"). The NUPES winning an absolute majority of the seats is indeed pretty unlikely, BUT there could be a scenario where none of the three blocks have an absolute majority, in which case… I don’t know what would happen.

The video is great and explains really clearly what's happening.
I noticed two small inaccuracies but they were really minor:
– wrong party logo for the prime minister in the 93-95 cohabitation
– it's not candidates with 12.5% of the votes who get to move on to the second round. It's candidates who get more than 12.5% of the registered voters to vote for them. As turnout decreases they need a higher share of the vote to move on.

As a french I can say that although making simplist statements (for example, the communists in France are not really considered far left but radical left, or macron being recognized by almost everyone as center-right more then center) this video describes very well the current situation and stakes of the upcoming election. Congratulations on this video !

A rather accurate first insight into the current movement. Except the qualification of "hard left" which is part of Macron's Propaganda : NUPES program is actually less progressist than François Mitterrand's on the 1981 election. Mitterrand was known as a social democrat.

why is the word "far right" if macron is the middle. would they just be the "right" far right implys that macron is the right of center but acording to how this video is framed macorn is a liberal which would make him left wing? or is liberal in france a middle position? etherway therr cant be a "far right" if there isnt a "regular right" or just "right" if the right keeps voting for a populist right wing leader then that populist just represents the right not the far right.

I wouldn’t say that the left wing will be a threat to Macron since he’s a centrist, if you argue a bunch, you could say he’s a bit more of a leftist

Well same think was said about the plural left (Socialits, Greens, Communists) in 1997 after Chirac dissolved the National Assembly, nobody was seeing them having the majority -> they won and governed France (with Mélenchon as minister at the time)

Thank you for this great video. I couldn't help but notice there were a few mistakes though:
Around 2:44, the logo you used for the Greens does not exist in France. Also you said the French Communist Party was a far-left party, which is clearly not the case since at least the 1990s. It is now more of a left-wing party. However, the NPA is a far-left party and it almost made it to the NUPES before saying they couldn't be in an alliance along with the Socialist Party.
At 4:31 you put the logo of the UDF for the second cohabitation, but PM Balladur was a member of the RPR.
Also I think it would have been interesting if you had added a historical look, because everything this left-wing alliance has agreed upon is more or less what the left-wing parties have already done in the past (with the "plural left-wing" choosing to disobey some EU rules under Socialist PM Jospin or with the 1974 alliance led by Socialist candidate Mitterrand planning to dismantle NATO). 🙂

What I don't understand with Melanchon is that, despite (or because of ?) being a fan of Mitterrand, his program is the same as what Mauroy applied in 1981 (basically an artificial salary increase) . It was catastrophic, and Mitterrand had to switch to a (too much) ultraliberal politic instead, with Fabius as a PM. The most frightened is that my sons believe in his marxist program and voted for him thinking it can work, since they weren't born in the early 80s. To be honest, Jadot or Hidalgo didn't sell dream to them.

You made two mistakes, Macron is not middle but right, it's even discussed if he is "far right" like the extremist Marine Lepen. The middle isn't really powerfull with no big personnality.
Secondly, the prime/first minister isn't elected but choosen by the president :
It's right that it is preferable to have someone from the same assembly majority as the prime minister but the president choose which person.
Mélanchon claimes are not in accordance to the constitution. As he make a lot of fake claims like that, trying to propagate fake news and is not a consistent person, he may never be considered as prime minister.
