I have the general feeling that it is best for the EU to proceed forward slowly. The looseness that allowed a 'no fight' Brexit has been a huge boon, as Brexit is showing itself to be a profound cautionary tale against trying to go backwards. The one big primary worry though is the advance of global warming, which is likely to go faster than European union.

I love the idea of the European Union as the band of countries that literally spend centuries fighting and hurting one another then coming together in the new century to face the new challenges. I totally agree that the EU should use its member states' collective historical experience to set a standard for the rest of the world (after all, some of today's issues can be mostly attributed to European countries doing some nasty things to others). However, I feel today's EU is too idealistic and verbal in its approach to its internal issues rather than practical.
